I did wrinkle paint my PS reservoir too.. Took it out early from the oven ( I heard my wife coming in the house ..lol ... ) so it is not curing properly .... shoot ...but I can live with it for now. That's what you get for being sneaky and doing things illegally .. hahahaha

Need to dig one of the holes I covered with bondo so I can bolt the damn PS reservoir on the strut tower

Maybe by tomorrow I can bolt down the head on the short block so I can put every thing together on the engine and drop it on the bay. It might take me some time to do the wiring harness since I am trying to hide most of the wires in as much as I can so I can have a real clean engine bay look.

No, you are only taking out the seal and not the seal casing .

Take out transmission, pry the rear main seal out of the seal casing /.retainer and install a new one.

Using an OEM Toyota Gasket is always best on the 2jzgte

Once you are sure that short block and head surfaces are straight , clean and ready , hand tight the ARP Head Studs and layout the head gasket. Some will spray copper spray on the head gasket but the OEM one is already coated so I didn't.

Head laid down on the block . Used the stock washers ...

Do not use the smaller ARP washers that had been proven to cause head lifting / gasket failure and overheating in elevated boosts and / or RPMs. .Being smaller, they dig into the aluminum head and has smaller clamping area than the bigger stock washers.

Once the head is properly torqued down, then applied lube for the cams.

You don't have to if your intention is just to replace rear main seal . Otherwise you will be resealing also the seal casing against the block and upper oil pan with sealant / FIPG .. more work and more chances of not resealing something properly and you are back to square one.

If the leak is not coming from the side or bottom of the Rear Main Seal Casing or Retainer, I suggest leave that alone... just pry the real seal out and replace it.

I want the Black Pearl to be my best SC being a rare 1997 SC300 5 speed so I am trying to collect some of the best parts in the market for it. Got some stuff in the mail today for it, a Weldon 2345a Pump that can easily support +1000rwhp, Weldon fuel regulator and a Titan Dampener. All were bought way below their store prices. In fact , not even half of their store prices. They have never been used too so basically like new. Good deals are really out there, just got to be vigilant.... . It's funny a mod at SF said "fastest sale in the world" ...lol. I snatched them minutes after being posted.

I have a suggestion for you that I will be doing with my car once this cold NY winter is over:

Get some tail light lens tint spray and tint the brake fluid reservoir. I think it will look nice and complement the rest of your black theme and will also allow you to see the fluid level inside

I will be doing that with my brake fluid reservoir and coolant recovery tank

Thanks ! That would be a good idea. I will include that in my to do list once engine is in and am buttoning things up. That brake fluid is hard on any paint so anything around that area I will do at the end . I need to work on bolts and nuts too but those are better done on the final stage of the build.

Ryan , yes it will be a stock 2jzgte car . It will be my run around town SC (daily driver) . I will be running stock twins so I can enjoy a 2jzgte SC around town where I could hardly find empty roads... damn traffic of Metro Atlanta.
