2jzGTE SCs - The Siblings of my Supra MKIV Toys
#3286
Nah.... one rare 1997 SC300 5speed is enough . The 6speed setups are so expensive and we all know that SCs do not have good resale values when it is time to let go of them for whatever reason. We always say we will never sell this or that car and that is not always the case . That's why I don't think it is worth having more than one 6speed SC.
Having only one , it is the very reason why I want my rare 1997 SC300 5speed to have the best power train (3.4 Stroker VVTi) and drive train (6speed V160) ... at least at par if not better than my best 3.4 Stroker 6 speed MKIV which is at well over 1200rwhp.

Gerry, I was thinking the other day, how do you decide on what sc/supra to drive?
I instantly thought of having a dartboard with all the cars on it so you can just toss a dart and bam that's the one.. but I would be interested to know how you actually choose.
For me its easy lifted GX or lowered SC but if I had multiple SC's I dunno, I would probably stare at them for like 10 minutes everytime I had to go somewhere before I could decide.

lol, it all depends on where I am and what I am about to do. My vehicles are not all in one place.
If I just have to run an errand, I use whatever is at the front of the driveway . It doesn't have to be an SC or MKIV since I have SUVs, Trucks and other cars. But if I want to play with speed and depending on who I am going to play with or seeing , then I choose a car depending on whether I am seeing a friend with an SC or MKIV and how built is his car.
You know I really never meant to have these much. The MKIVs are more investments for me since I grab every MKIV I get to know for sale that is really a good deal or way below its market value.. The SCs , working on them on my free time for which I have a lot just kept me busy and before I know it I now am on my 4th SC with 2jzgte My wife calls it the 2JZ madness !
Now that my 97 sc300 5speed engine bay is clean , am planning to drop the stock 2jzgte vvti engine I just bought and mate a 6 speed v160 I have , just to get the car running while I collect the stroker parts and ferrea valvetrain. I know I just finished preparing a 2jzge to temporarily install on this car but I don't know why a change of heart again... I guess since I came across this complete vvti 2jzgte with a good leakdown and compression numbers these past days, I might as well use it while collecting parts I need for the complete build .

As always Gerrb, great stuff, you guys down in your neck of the woods have far more 2jz deals than we do in the 757 on a weekly basis I search key words in different variations and very seldomly do I find the sweet deals you do, but when they appear I ****** them up.
Christmas is the best because a lot of people are selling cheap to get money. Last year I ended up with 4 sets of wheels all staggered sets with nice offsets. Tax season rolled around and I sold what I didn't want. Like you said gotta pay attention and be ready to pull the trigger.

got my 3.4liter stroker New CP Pistons with 10:1 compression yesterday so started weighing my rotating assembly parts . A good balanced rotating assembly can get you a better lasting engine . Pistons for a 3.4 stroker engine are different from a 3.0 engine.
Here the CP Piston without any wrist pin weight 345 grams
They always say that when you buy a set of rods especially Carillo HD H-Beam Rods with Carr Bolts that will set you back around $1700 , they come balanced as a set . Do not rely on that , that is the reason we get our rotating assembly balanced by a machine shop . I have seen it first hand , they don't always come balanced to the gram as a set. For this setup, I am using the New Carillo HD H-Beam with Carr-Bolts that I already had and intended to use in another engine but never did run that engine. They are one of the best if not the best rods according to the best and well known 2jzgte engine builders. For the rods , whether it is for a 3.4 liter stroker crank or for a 3.0 liter stock crank , they will have same specs but the block will be clearanced for increased angle due to the increased stroke.
As soon as the Winberg 3.4 crank I ordered arrives , I will send out my block and get it line honed with billet mains. Here , the whole rod, piston , .250" wrist pins , rings and bearings weight 1130 grams as a set. In this case , it seems that all the individual components like all rods where same weight down to the gram, same thing with pistons and other components.

Hope you are doing good buddy. Looks like you have been so busy .
The ol girl will be a street fighter to recon with eventually ... capable of +1000rwhp on a 3.4liter stroker 10:1 compression, with a fully built & ported VVTi head . To get instant pedal response , coupled with the torque down low provided by the 3.4 litter and VVTi , am using a Precision PT-6870 with an SP quick spool valve. Instead of a tubular manifold , to get even better spool and torque , I am seriously thinking of using the cast manifold ported by FSR Motorsports which is basically a SPA Manifold but ported that is if it won't be a restriction due to the fact that it will be a 3.4 stroker and a built/ported vvti head .
the turbo that will make this car a force to reckon with on the streets

Am building its engine to be able to hold at least 1500rwhp . Block will have a 1/4 filled concrete. Once am done with break in , I will install a big turbo just to see how much power it will get into before I settle down with the PT-6870 since it will be a street fighter just like my current daily driver with PT-6870 but with a 6 speed instead of an auto which my daily driver has.
some comparison for the PT-6870 in the center , the smaller one is a 62mm and the big one is a 72mm. It is not far away in size from the small 62mm that is the reason it's spool characteristics are so good that there is a small difference in spool between the 6870 and 6766 .

It is to make the block stronger for high hp applications. If you have seen a broken 2jz block in pieces the cast iron block thickness is not that much. Pressures in high hp application wouldn't be forgiving on that engine block . So depending on the use of the car some do a 1/4 , 1/2 or fully filled concrete on blocks to strengthen it. Depending on the fill , you are actually diminishing the space the coolant that surrounds the cylinders to cool them . For a street car , 1/4" filled concrete is what you need otherwise overheating can be an issue in city traffics.
I was trying to sell this 6 speed v160 that came out of a MKIV with less than 75k miles. I bought two Brand New 6speed v160 from a dealership before they stopped producing them. One I just installed in my +1200rwhp 3.4 stroker MKIV since I doubt that car will ever leave me. Instead of installing the other new one on this 97 5speed, I have decided to use and install this 6speed with less than 75k miles and keep the new one as reserve for all my 6speed cars. Hard enough looking for used ones , much more unused / new ones , so having a new reserve will eventually help considering the 97 sc300 5speed will be my 5th 6 speed car.
