ProjectGS: Revival of the White GS

Update 4/10/2012
Got started on this late again. Had to work on someones WRX after coming back home at like 9pm. Didn't get to work on my manifold until 11pm or so. Only spent about 1.5 hours on it and called it a night. I had to cut off runner #2 and redo it. It was angled in such a way that #3 was hitting the motor mount bracket. Almost done though, only 1 runner left to cut/tack up and then I can begin the final welding process.
Mounted turbo to check for clearances. Needed to make sure nothing was hitting the compressor cover.
Without the turbo.

- Possibly highest HP daily driven street car 2GS/1IS, drag/race cars don't count. Needs to be truly daily-able and registered tags (needs to be verified, but I posted up in several other forums and nobody has found a higher example yet).
- Highest HP recorded through an A650E automatic Toyota transmission.
- Highest HP 2GS/1IS that can still pass plug in OBD-II emissions.
- Highest HP 2GS/1IS on a piggyback computer system.

Jeff are you running a stock stall? Dyno numbers aren't too relevant on automatics with high stalls. Guys are picking up 100RWHP+ by just putting in the stock torque converters but the cars with stock converters and higher dyno numbers are slower than those with high stall / lower dyno numbers. Below is a post from JROCK on supraforums, he has one of the quickest stock built automatic Supra's. I also read Larry from SP had a car that only made 750 RWHP but ran 158MPH in the 1/4. Thats crazy when you think about it as my friends old 6 speed car made 850 RWHP but only ran 142 in the 1/4.
I think 1/4 mile time / MPH is the true measuring stick when looking at most powerful 2nd gen GS300, thats my goal, to have the fastest / quickest GS300 in the 1/4 mile. I currently have the record for the fastest on my old setup, but not the quickest.
Here is a mesage form JROCK
475 RWHP with a 67mm at 18psi? 3500 stall? it does sound right on the money power wise for that boost. And he's right you would be in the high high 500's to very low 600's hp wise if it were in a 6 speed. The auto's dyno far less hp to the wheels on the rollers due to the stalls size. If you don't change a single thing and simply put in a stock stall the car will shoot up about 100hp more amazingly ( trust me we tried haha ) So when you hit the street the car will rip just as fast and being auto racing another similar car in weight and power it will beat it simply cause it's never losing boost and in a constant power band.
My car on a 67mm setup a few years ago at 20 psi was only doing 480's so your def on the spot. with the massive stall i run now on 27psi pump gas on a billet 7175 it still only puts down 512hp haha but has gone 9.90's on pump gas at 3600lbs weight! So look at the dyno as a tool for Darin to get your tune perfect it's not a competition. Dyno the car in over drive if you wanna lay down 600hp BTW it works it's a trick lol
There is a good thread here that talks about automatics on high stalls, dyno numbers don't mean much as the higher the stall the lower the HP.

Yeah, on stock stall converter. I know, it's basically just a measurement tool but still some numbers out there. Before this, it wasn't really ever known what the car was making. I could take it to a Dyno Dynamics or Mustang load bearing dyno and it would probably come down like 100hp.
You're right though, true test is on the strip. I never posted a dyno because I know it's just a reference. But so many people were pestering, so I went and ran it for the hell of it lol. I'm setting up the car to run in the quater mile here pretty soon when the season comes rolling around. Hope to get into the 10's with my daily and maybe 9's in the white car.

nice. 800 is a great number either way so congrats on that, I'm looking forward to seeing how you do on the strip.
I'm going to run my car this Friday just on 18psi and pump gas to see what I can do, from there I need to install some 2000 cc injectors to max out my turbo on E85. After this latest dyno tune this is the best my car has ever run, I love it.
