Like my LS brake calipers, I've had my gated shifter for quite some time now. I've waited so long to have a reason to put it on. And just when I've given up, and decided to sell my gated shifter, the "dildomatic" started acting up. What I hate about the generic straight shifter is when the bushings wear out, it makes a lot of rattling sound, very loud when shifting, shifter wouldn't lock in place and when it doesn't lock in place the lights don't function properly; like the reverse lights - which wasn't exactly a good thing. And one more thing the old shifter can cause was unnecessary heat in the shifter area. As one of the members here discovered, once the old boot under the shifter develops a hole in time, the heat from the tranny gets in through it.

The entire process was pretty straight forward. it was just a matter of understanding the wirings and double checking everything. I took the plugs off of my old shifter, soldered and heat shrinked every wire so it can be plug and play like the stock shifter. The gated shifter also adds a luxury look and feel to the car. It was well worth it, 'cause a lot of the rattling and noise from the center console are now gone, the heat from the tranny, and it shifts way more quieter and smoother now. I am planning on buying SC430 black leather/woodgrain steering wheel with its matching woodgrain shift **** in the process of converting my interior to all black.
Here's the only picture I could find of my old shifter in the car. It doesn't even have the leather on the shift ****.

I just did the same exact thing as you with the soldering of all the 97 plugs to the new shifter. I hate that one plug on the harness needs to be cut and switched around so the car can't be returned to 100% factory but oh well
What did you do with your traction control button. Thats the issue I am facing right now. Every install I have seen lacks a traction control button.
What is everyone doing with that?

Very easy man. I don't even know why I procrastinated this long to put it on, lol. Soldering the old plugs to the gated shifter is the way to go. I can't imagine hardwiring it to the OEM harness in that cramped up space. And there's no way to remove and install the shifter without removing the center console, but very easy still.
