GFM slow and steady "build"

I found the main headliner, grab handles and c pillars at a yard in Sacramento that was parting out on isf.
Bought the main headliner piece probably a year ago, was just waiting to either find the rest of the parts used or suck it up and spend the money on the new parts haha

in either case i do plan on swapping the door panels and lower dash trim/airbags to black. see how that looks while leaving the seats alone and go from there. ive spent enough on the interior for a little while haha

Since I did not want to spend the $1000 on a oem black sunroof console and back light, i did some research and found that many rc car hobbyists and paintballers use rit dye to dye their plastic pieces, the dye is impregnated into the plastic so it will hold up to wear and tear better than paint. I did not want to paint them due to the fact it could rub off etc.. so i figured i would give it a try. worst comes to worst they will be painted.
Started on the rear at about 11 this morning, and so far unsure if the plastic used will take the dye or not. Although my research showed that it can sometimes take up to a day to have a part take full color.. anyways pics
This was maybe an hour into it.. not very black
I have been reheating the dye every hour or so, since you are supposed to do this on the stove top (i do not have a pan big enough though) heat allows the plastic to take the dye. Again, progess has been real slow, I will probably leave this overnight before deciding to try another method or just painting them if it fails.

Thanks! It really makes a world of difference, both from the inside and looking in from the outside. Should have sucked it up and bought the rest of the parts sooner haha

As I mentioned before, i think i will start sourcing the rest of the black interior parts for the door panels and lower dash trim, and either leave the seats grey or have them redone in red.. ala is-f red edition style
I see one in town all the time and cant shake it as the way to go and finish off the interior. we shall see.. itll def be the last thing i do interior wise
but this makes me want to stick with grey.. no carbon trim for me though (not a fan)
