Default Build Thread - Combination of old to current

I decided that since I finally have a good place to work on the car and actually making progress again, I'd put together an up to dated build thread.
Here's a recap of some of my other threads.

Expect a long line of pictures.

After loading up the car, I stopped at the gas station just down the road to adjust any movement in the straps.

Got about 6 hours of sleep at the rest stop half way back. 11 hours one way is a long time.

Finally home

Some night shots after washing the dirt.

More recent pics of the the engine rebuild 02-10-12

My car has been sitting in a storage unit for quite a while now. When I got it I had a job, but I got laid off and my parents relocated to Washington DC. I'd With the apartment I'm living in now I haven't had the room or resources to work on the car. But, I found out that I qualified to go back to school. They have an Auto program at the local college near me so I took that up. I just started working on my car again after having no place to do it.

It's only the engine for now, but here's the progress pictures. Enjoy

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Got the valves out and the block cleaned up.
Now to blow it out and clean out all the threads. next comes some last minute measuring, and then time to order parts.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Sandblasted my oil pan and cleaned up all my gasket surfaces.
Just waiting on paint and parts right now.

Found some scoring in the cylinder walls now that I got it all cleaned up. Going to have to bore to .020 over which means new pistons.

I just ordered some CP Pistons (#SC7460) and valve guides

Wondering if i should paint the tray? I could paint it black to match or leave it how it is.

I ground my valves.

And then When I was putting my new valve guides in, I drove one in backwards. I had to take it to a shop to get it fixed. That's where the head is now. I threw in my arp head studs just to have something to do for 5 mins.

Then my bearings finally came in and I could start assembly. I also got a water pump, oil pump, TT head gasket, ebay multi gasket kit, new exhaust studs, and a couple other odds and ends.

I put the top pan on, with silicone, but I realized i didn't have the o-rings I needed for the oil pump, so It's coming back off tomorrow.

Coilovers need work.

Headlights to mod

Upper oil pan on my friend's bridgeport. Making a hole for the oil return line.

Sent the engine in to a shop to get the block decked, crank balanced, pistons cut, and valve backlash set.
Rebuild pics after the work. Second rebuild from complete disassemble of the engine.

Friend helping me assemble my engine in the back of work. I was on the clock so I couldn't be in the picture :P

Got the intake back from the shop. They did a great job.

Welded and port-matched.

Engine current status. Waiting on a couple parts in the mail. Hopefully I'll have all the parts I need by the first of January.
