Just a quick parts update.
I saw my first pair of Unorthodox cam gears heading a handful of respectable Supras at TX2K15 and knew I just had to have them. Not only did I think they were the best looking cam gears, but I also came to find that they are also some of the best! Despite cheaper and other doable options, I finally found someone selling a pair and I jumped on them! Brand new. I couldn't be happier and can't wait to display them proudly!
Next is more or less a common sense upgrade. The rest of my bottom end is being built and given my HP potential, these only made sense. Titan Motorsports Billet Main Caps. Should be getting honed and installed this week, then the rest of my bottom end should be able to be put back together and ready for action!
Moving along, hoping to remove the rest of the nonsense in my bay so I can prep it for paint. Then I get to really have fun and start installing all the goodies I've been hanging onto and collecting over the last year.

After a lovely wait, I have my bottom end 100% complete!!
Freshened and painted block
All new freeze plugs
CP Pistons
Manley Rods
ACL Bearings
Titan Main Caps
Modified Oil Pump
Next up will be the head getting done up. Then intake manifold... then turbo (getting a different one)...
Getting there I suppose?

I have the same pistons, bearings, and main caps going into an engine I'm about to assemble. Do you happen to know the wall clearance and ring gap on the pistons? Also, what kind of bearing clearances are you running on the mains?
Thanks,

Nice build... Congrats!

P-w clearance .0034"
Ring gap #1: .0021
Ring gap #2: .0025
Oil control: I leave them how they come: .0010
Main bearing tolerances: .033mm (.0013in)
Rod bearing tolerance: .036 (.0014") ( uses an hx series bearing so it will clearance more than the standard bearing will. ) mind you this will all be dependent on who's machining the crank and if you're even getting it tuned. And if you're using a bearing for a larger oil clearance. I always clearance the rod bearings larger just for higher hp builds and use a thicker oil so oil pressure stays up.
ACL Bearings were the HX series, .001 over standard bearings.

Thanks for the informative and timely reply. I'm verifying all my machinist's work (deck flatness, cylinder bore/taper, wall and bearing clearances) and was curious how my engine set-up compares to similar builds.
Thanks again for the info.

Haven't forgotten about my car or this thread!
I'll have a bunch of updates as the parts roll in, but for now, here is my new turbo!
My original build plans had me using my untouched 1jz and a Borg Warner S366 turbo. After some search, I realized that the S366 spooled kind of slow for a 1jz and since my car is supposed to be a street car, I wanted it to spool quicker. So from there, I opted for the BW S366 with billet wheel and goods.. Cool.. Well then my build plans changed drastically. Fully built 1.5jz, all the goodies, etc.. So I figured.. Why let my turbo limit me? My block is going to be capable of 1000hp or better, so lets let it breath! Alas, here we have the Borg Warner SXE-369.
This thing is massive!
Puppy + turbo
The exhaust housing is getting a V-band welded on and coated black. Now I need to figure out what to do with the compressor housing. My engine bay/motor theme is black/polished... So my options are an all black compressor housing, polished housing and black "Borg Warner" lettering.. Or maybe get crafty and do an all black housing and silver "Borg Warner" lettering.. I really want to show this beauty off and I'm afraid having it done in all black will make it appear smaller than it actually is..... First world problems
In the works:
Fully built head, intake manifold and my exhaust manifold and downpipe redone! All of it is ordered, just waiting for it to get finished. Hoping to have it all in 2-3 weeks! Then I'll have myself a 90% complete engine!
