Going to hold off on the tuner until next week. Going to finish the details and make everything is ready for the tuner. No leaks and everything works before I bring it to them.
yes i have the AEM v1 and i have used both type of laptops. I am about to get a buddy that has more AEM skills than I do. It could also be that the laptop isn't configured right either.
a lot of those usb to serial adapters do not work . But if you have used an older laptop with the RS232 serial port (DB9) connector then I suspect MAYBE its just choosing the right COM port . Otherwise I suspect a wiring issue if it is a brand new working AEM ecu.
What Operating System are you using on that laptop with the DB9 connector ? Go to the Device Manager and see if the COM ports are available and not in use.
The RS232 serial port is the DB9 connector (It is D in shape and had 9 pins hence DB9) . Now go to control panel , system, hardware , device manager ... under Ports , expand by clicking the + sign and you will see your com ports .. check them if they are already IN USE . If they are then your AEM cannot negotiate a handshake (communication) with the com port it is set so it won't connect.
Just sold the aem v1. Getting some quote for the proefi. Going to use the crap out of the traction control. Lol. Wondering if I should not get the adapter harness and just get the connector and pin kit and make a cannon plug harness for my car. I was leaning towards the aem v2 or proefi. Obviously the v2 is considerable less but is the proefi worth the extra money. Will my car run just as good on a v2?
Of course i want the proefi but 1530 for aem v2 2jzge plus 300 for gauges and 3200 for proefi. Its a big price difference about 1400 bucks difference plus tuning.
