That's the style we were going for. Modern and sporty.

So we competed at FD this weekend. Not sure if any of you were watching Alex run. The car looked awesome and he was trying to get his confidence up and fine tuning the new setup but still having some motor issues. We didn't do that well in qualifying but all in all it was a good event.

They dumped the car and left in in the paddock for the rest of today (main event) so were hoping to get a lot of photos and media exposure.

Here are a few pics.

People really like this car as a FD car as it's pretty out of the norm.

Il have some new pics of my car pretty soon as well.

Till next time.

Can't wait for rims so imma make a decision pretty quick. So far it's a tossup between 19" M1R's. If you compare the 18 to the 19 you see slight differences. A more refined flatter face without the bump in it. As well as a simpler center without the extra 5 holes. A more refined sport/luxury look if you will. Fits my criteria of stepped lip and 11.5" max width. I would get the R disc to have the deep center as well as huge lip to give it another dimension of depth.

The new seeker CX in 18". (Max dia) a cool looking modern take on the classic mesh. I LOVE the silver/machined face. IF I go 18" these are the choice for sure. Even with only an 11" max width.

SERIALNINE Streetstyle JZS161-image-61727870.jpg

OOOORRRR. The durandal DD 10.5 I ABSOLUTELY love this rim EXCEPT it only comes in 11" max width. But the slight concave center with the silver/polished finish are both huge pluses.

The rest of the currently new styles from work don't appeal to me

The new meister M1 3pce

SERIALNINE Streetstyle JZS161-image-1462338184.jpg

SERIALNINE Streetstyle JZS161-image-95315102.jpg

Not really a fan of the plain re-released basic mesh rim that happens to be 3 pce.

Anyways. A little closer to ordering the coilovers as well FINALLY!! As well the upper arm prototype being almost perfect.

Till next time

Any more pics of the trunk? Like from the side. I want to see how much of a lip is added.

So a quick update. I received my coilovers! As I mentioned before, we couldn't find what we were looking for in a readily available coilover. I wanted something in the 20-30k range as my car is going to be extremely low and I wanted to drift it as well. Having had Stances in my 147 aristo with 18/14k I knew I wanted something stiffer. They were the standard off the shelf Super Sports which I had swapped springs on, and they were definitely under valved for that spring rate. They also came with rubber upper mounts when I wanted pillow *****, and a few other reasons I wanted to try something new despite being a loyal Stance user. We'd gotten some emails from XYZ previously about their big brake kits and coilovers. When we received those emails we were only interested in the BBKs and had asked them about pricing etc and other questions regarding technical aspects of them. Initially not giving them the time of day, we did some research and XYZ came up as a company out of Taiwan that also makes D2 and some vette guys seemed to really like the brakes. We weren't looking for coilovers back then so we never looked Into it any further. Fast forward to now and I was stuck for choices so I dug deeper into XYZ, turns out they are quite popular for drifting in Eastern Europe as well as Russia, also came up as semi popular in France and New Zealand due to their diverse product line which covers Holden's and Renaults among other things. Hmm. Browsing yahoo japan also came up with XYZ Japan offering specific coilovers for VIP cars. So I checked the app list and damper specs and they offer a "SUPER SPORT" "RACING SPEC" and "DRIFT SPEC" coilover for the 161 chassis. After some debate, both Kevin (SERIALNINE) and I ordered the RACING SPEC dampers with 25/20k springs for my GS and his Celsior. Enough talk! Onto the pics. They came in a flashy looking box packaged nicely and labeled properly as well as many "inspected"

Came with a spec sheet, shock dyno chart and recommended settings!? Pretty cool but could also be generic and BS

SERIALNINE Streetstyle JZS161-image-1278555199.jpg

This is what comes in the kit. It's pretty comprehensive! You get coilovers, wrenches that have 1/2" drive holes in them, adjuster *****, brake line mounting hardware, sticker, spec sheet and an instruction booklet!!?? Wow. I'm used to a generic piece of paper telling you some nonsense about adjustment.

The kit fit well in his car. Being able to drop it to the ground on 18s. Deec! SERIALNINE Streetstyle JZS161-image-3702468967.jpg Damper sticker SERIALNINE Streetstyle JZS161-image-3348296310.jpg Pretty crazy sticker SERIALNINE Streetstyle JZS161-image-3485124284.jpg Installation booklet SERIALNINE Streetstyle JZS161-image-3471145136.jpg Warranty card. SERIALNINE Streetstyle JZS161-image-1154345053.jpg Lower bracket and bushing (looks to be hard rubber) SERIALNINE Streetstyle JZS161-image-1963735885.jpg Rear height full low, PROPER!! SERIALNINE Streetstyle JZS161-image-10128309.jpg Front height full low??!!?? Now I understand that I'm missing 600lbs in engine/tranny, 220lbs in seats, 30lbs dash/etc, 100lbs in rad/ac/fluids etc. But this higher than I want. So I emailed them requesting a front lower bracket that is 4" shorter. Let's see what happens with that. It's not too big a deal as our FLCA's are -20mm plus 45mm in RCAs is over 2" shorter, add the drivetrain and it would prolly be good. But I want short as hell. SERIALNINE Streetstyle JZS161-image-3119175491.jpg So anyways. That's that. Pretty decent for the price. As I said we also installed them into Kevin's UCF20. And actually drove on them. Initial impressions are pretty accurate with the spec sheet. One full turn counter from full hard is basically the softest you'd wanna go, anything below that and the damping is sloppy and loose. They're definitely the stiffest off the shelf coilover for Lexus that I've seen and ridden in. Our other options were custom valved BC with swift springs. It'd be interesting to compare them. We ended up at around 25 clicks out of 30 and they felt well matched at that point. Firm yet controlled, stiff enough for what were doing which is essentially belly scraping and drifting. It feels very JDM stiff. Unlike Stances which are very compliant yet controlled. Some people mistake them for being soft, but for a given application they are extremely well damped. These feel more traditionally stiff, like most people would feel too stiff. I still have to evaluate them myself for an extended period of time in a 161 chassis, but my initial impression is good. As well their "SUPER SPORT" kit is both cheaper and softer for most people, maybe well get one of these into a customers car to review as well. Anyways. Ordering my wheels soon. Did a quick poll in our Instagram and FB page between a few rims and the seekers came out on top. I like them a lot even though they are only 18's, I think this car is going to look sick. Really small and sporty looking is what I'm going for. Low suspension and low to the ground. Till next time! G. SERIALNINE sedankings.

thanks for the update. so how do these springs rates differ from Tein and Megan's for example. I'm full hardness and the car still bounces quite a bit. I'm guessing I need something with a stiffer spring rate like the XYZ or something in between a Megan and XYZ
