Official 2GS Rocket Bunny style wide body build thread GS400
Ok so for those that want to see this happen follow along as we are going to implement a wide body style to the 2gs that is becoming a popular style among coupes. As I noted in another thread we are not going to retain creature comforts but we are for the sake of the sedan retaining full function of the 4 doors. We will post kit application progress and as many details as possible in this thread we will also be deciding on rear mount twin turbos for the 1uzfe or full LSx swap of a TBD spec after the kit is installed.
First order of business is to list what we currently plan on doing
1. Using HRE 546 20x11 fronts 20x13 rears with 245/35/20 fronts and 295/30/20 rears
2. Tein coil-overs with EDFC installed already
3. Full custom very open exhaust no resonators (retaining catalytic converters for now)
4. Intake upgraded
5. Rocket bunny style kit made and fit by us
6. Weight reduction (By By to heated seats Fixed Bride Low max coming) no spare tire either
7. Various Suspension linkage upgrades again fabricated by us.
8. After Kit is installed paint and we are looking for input on this see POLL
After kit is installed and we are happy with fit finish and suspension settling we will maximize grip and then shoot of the drive train mods currently we want to turbo the 1uzfe with rear mount twin turbo's all of which will be custom made in house again.
Please chime in but please don't say why are you doing this or you are ruining that car we can by as many of these as needed for this project we want to build a 1 off hopefully stylish G-SEDAN that will do well for spirited cruising through some mountain runs to the occasional track day. We for this car could careless about the VIP abilities of the car or the luxuries it has such as A-C and power this power that. We do want to retain the V8 nature of it so absolutely no 2J thoughts. But if we go LSx may consider manual conversion for the FUN of it. The poll is for your thoughts on color for the car as far as a permanent color would be, but keep in mind we can plastic dip this multiple times depending on how we feel so many color variations are going to be seen
With out further here we go see below the begginings the donor car the HRE's the wide rubber etc.
WE WILL UPDATE PAGE 1 this thread with all updates so save page 1 for your viewing
FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW THE LOOK WE WANT TO ACHIEVE HERE SOME PICS FROM SEMA 2013
THIS IS THE SOLID GREY WE WANT OR THINKING OF
^^^^MINUS THE WING OF COARSE^^^^^^
Thanks Northstyle this is the look we are going for daily driven track aggressive wide body with full sedan function.
SO just an update had to reform the over flares due to space constraints from the front fender well to the bumper and side of headlight, we have so preliminary mounting done and there is a pic of the rear wheel well being cut to allow for the suspension travel. Hoping to have the car in white primer in 2-3 weeks stay tuned please note thee are rought pics as a bunch of blending molding and welding will be done to make smooth lines.
SO HERE IS THE ROUGH FIT AND GENERAL LOOK NEXT PIC SET WILL BE FINISHED LINES IN PRIMER

The BMW's are from Liberty Walk, not TRA Kyoto... anywho, here's a link to a thread with pictures of their E91 Wagon. Might help some with the thought process since it actually has four doors with flares. Good luck with the build and look forward to the outcome

^^^^^^^ For a descriptive idea that big full size spare tire well will be eliminated creating more than enough space for the turbos ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^. That is if we go that route I like turbos so good possibility I have turbo'd several N/A motors of different sorts and while tuning can be hair losing stress who needs hair then.

It will become reality for at least one car, we are hoping for a practical fitment that the avg do it your self guy can do. If that's possible then the body kit has marketability however to much to get it done will just limit it to a one off production. I just spoke with molder of kit on Wednesday and we are hoping to have some finished pieces for fitment by the end of this next week so stay tuned for post one updated pics. OH and keep the poll going because in 30 days it will expire and we will be painting the car by that time your input counts as naturally I like all 4 choices for different reasons.

Not to push any ones vote in the poll but i'm liking the body lines opinion ^^^^^^^^ and a light grey solid charcoal color non metallic might be very persuasive, that with deep black rim centers and a not so subtle neon orange suspension color of all the different links we modify.

yeah but a dark color on a widebody just looks so mean. everybody has used the flat and matte black so much that i think the gray is a breathe of fresh air. i pretty sure the widebody "kit" wont get lost in the color with as much as that 20x13 stuck out
