I really just eyeball it. For small items like trim pieces, i just use my finger tips and finger nails. For larger items, i use a squeegee that has a felt liner. You can find all this stuff readily available online. Just search "vinyl application tools". I also use an Xacto knife with a new blade. You just have to be very careful not to scratch paint with it. Biggest key is patience. You don't want to rush anything.

Thanks. I am having some trouble finding the finger tips and finger nails online, but I appreciate the help ....

How did you do your rear window trim? It has a near flush finish between the chrome and the plastic trim. Also, did you use a heat gun or a hair dryer? What is in the spray can in your front de-chrome photo?
I plan on de-chroming with 3M Gloss black vinyl as well. First time!
Thanks

Best thing to do is go 3M vinyl...thats what i did for the window trim and front grill. just make sure you go to a pro wrapper.....the window trim is hard to wrap because you can't tuck the vinyl under the edge of the rubber that trims around the window...thats what all other cars do.
