Lower turbo exhaust collector stud replacement

Previously I showed how to remove a seized and rusted exhaust stud that had broken off from this collector. Here I am replacing any of the three studs that look compromised in any way with new ones (90126-10013)

2JZ-GTE Idle Air Control VSV

The GTE Idle Air Control Vacuum Switching Valve (90910-12114) goes on top of the steel vacuum hard lines on top of the sequential turbochargers.

The IACV VSV is affixed with two nuts (90182-A009):

Two hoses are required (Hose, AIr No. 7 P/N: 17347-46011) that use two clamps on the VSV side (90467-12062) and two different clamps on the upper vacuum hard line side (96132-51000).

Vacuum hose for one of the wastegates (I think?)

All of which brings us to this point in the progress:

OEM twin turbo water bypass line connection to water pump upper bypass elbow

Two hoses (16284-46020) are required here along with four clamps (90467-15016 but superseded to 96135-41400).

A hint with these and any other water passage type hose is to get a little tupperware bowl, put a little plain hand soap (not very much) into it and fill with water. Stir it up a bit and briefly dunk the ends of the hoses into the solution. THEN install the hoses onto your metal connections easily.

2JZ-GTE Wastegate VSV & Exhaust Gas Control Valve

This bracket was a bit rusted when I first took the assembly apart. I spent some time sanding it with light paper, using a fine Dremel wire brush and a large wire brush on a stationary motor and then leaving it in Evap-O-Rust solution for several hours to remove the rest of the small rust deposits. After that it was painted with VHT primer and VHT black paint.

The Wastegate VSV is 90910-12115 and the EGCV VSV is 90910-12127. However the entire assembly including a new bracket is also available as 25804-46030.

USDM 2JZ-GTE EGR Vacuum Modulator Hose & Clamps

Unfortunately the factory hose from Toyota is discontinued as are, I believe, the clamps specified in the EPC diagram. This is an old possibly OEM hose that came with a used 2JZGTE EGR Vacuum modulator. I am not sure what to replace it with but this one seemed to work for me right now. I will cross that road later when it becomes necessary.

Small vacuum connection from back of 2JZ-GTE intake manifold to the metal combination vacuum crossover pipe (and coolant crossover pipe) at the rear top of the engine

This hose (90445-12256) uses two clamps (I believe they are 96135-41100 but superseded to 96135-51100).

2JZ-GTE EGR Vacuum Modulator hoses with small three-way splitter

Hoses 96132-40700 and 90445-08313 and small three-way splitter 90413-05002.

On the edge of the second picture you can see an older looking vacuum hose with a plastic spiral heat shield on it connected to the EGR VSV. That particular hose has been discontinued and I reused one I already had that came with an EGR VSV. It shouldn't be hard to figure out what proper replacement hose would be needed to replace it.

2JZGTE Wastegate VSV long 18" hose ("Air Hose No. 5") replacement, try #1

This is yet another rather annoying wear item that Toyota has discontinued. It is annoying because it is not an easy hose to size up to the original which requires a slightly larger inner diameter opening to fit onto the Wastegate VSV than the opening required at the other end for the upper vacuum hard line connection on top of the turbocharger system. It is a fuel type hose and an old one that I have reads as being 5/16ths (7.9mm) however even this doesn't quite make a perfect connection at the top hard line connection.

In the second picture I have tried to used an OEM vacuum line (P/N 23829-07010) intended for a Sienna Minivan 1999-2008 Toyota Tundra but it wasn't a good fit. Update: Yes, is WAS a good fit. You just need to cut off the one 1.5" larger diameter section at one end and it will fit over both the hard pipe end and large wastegate VSV nipple securely once you have applied clamps at both ends.

After that I tried a 5/16ths hose in 18" length silicon hose that I bought from Summit Racing. That worked on the VSV end but not on the upper vacuum hard line connection.

This suggests to me that I need one size smaller than 5/16ths (7.9mm) will have to be tried with the hope that it will fit onto the Wastegate VSV end.

The Discontinued hose below is "17345D" but the part number is 17345-46020.

This is a combination hose which uses a much easier to replace small common vacuum hose which also needs to be 18" in length for the EGCV VSV. For that part of it, Gates #27042 5/32nds ID hose can be substituted.

The two (2) OEM clamps for the large hose are 90467-12062.

Then I tried the Dayco hose from Summit which was a no-go at 5/16ths ID:

At the moment I have no good solution for the large fuel type hose for the Wastegate VSV other than attempting to re-use what appears to be an old worn out OEM Air Hose No.5... which doesn't quite fit snugly enough at the top vacuum hard line connection to seal correctly.

I'm still trying to solve this particular dilemma to find a suitable substitute...

This is how this hose connection should look:

UPDATE: SOLUTION!!! YES, hose P/N 23829-07010 CAN be used! Just cut off the portion that thickens out at one end. After that both the VSV and metal pipe above the turbos will fit with it.

See this later post where I have confirmed this:

2JZ-GTE Wastegate VSV to Turbo #1 Wastegate using OEM "Air Hose No.6"

This small but thick hose (17346-46010) uses two clamps (96135-51100) and connects the other port on the Wastegate VSV with the CT12b front turbo #1 small wastegate. A new one like this will look slightly pinched by its protective sleeve but it's not really obstructed and that's what Toyota specifies right from the parts diagram.

2JZ (GE or GTE) Oil Level Sensor for SC300's and Supra MKIV's

This was a pricey one. They last an extremely long time so this can be re-used from any SC300/MKIV 2JZ-GE or any MKIV 2JZ-GTE. You can not use one from a front sump Aristo, GS300 or other front sump 2JZ or 1JZ engine as it is not designed for those oil pans, just the ones from the SC300, Supra MKIV and probably the Z30 Soarer.

Part number 89491-14070 and four 90080-11578 bolts with 48 INCH-lbs of torque.

The gasket, if needed, is 90430-27001

The gasket actually comes with a brand new sensor but you should replace it on any used oil level sensor that might be used.

Finishing random piping random connections on the sequential twin vacuum system

There are several of these which I had to tape off months ago when I realized I was missing hoses and clamps.

The vacuum connection right next to the IACV VSV:

Another "Air Hose, No.7" (17347-46011) with two clamps (90467-12062). Well... the top clamp isn't actually a 90467-12062 but you could use one of those regardless.

The exhaust side valve cover PCV vent hose to the intake piping:

I ordered an incorrect hose at first which I later discovered would only fit 2JZ-GTE VVT-i engines and NOT the 2JZ-GTE Non-VVT engines.

For this USDM and any other Non-VVT application you want PCV vent hose 12262-46020 and clamps 96134-51700.

Rear wastegate(?) on turbocharger #2, two vacuum hoses:

This connection is... well... it looks like a wastegate on the back of the larger rear turbo #2.

Two (2) hoses ("Air Hose No. 8", P/N 17348-46010) and four (4) clamps (96135-51100).

Rear Vacuum connection from metal crossover pipe at back of engine (which connects all the way back to the intake manifold vacuum source):

Hose 90445-12256 and clamps 96135-51100.

Two front vacuum connections into the aluminum charge intake piping (one is the fuel vapor return from the EVAP system):

Two different hoses of different sizes are used here:

1x 90445-12256 with 2x clamps 96135-51100
1x 23829-46060 with 2x clamps 90467-12062
