No, he shouldn't be able to on those grounds.

I have a new in bag Metra double din bracket if you're desperate. There is another, far more pricey bracket available for early SC's as well that supposedly has better construction.

Did the EGR VSV come in?

Here you go! I think they offer single and double din. Check their website.

Waiting on a few bits from the engine builder….

^^ It's coming up very soon. Good luck, both of you. I'm sure you've dotted your i's and crossed all the T's to make the BAR happy by this point. Hope you've cancelled out that code 27 too.

I have a question for you too: regarding this TT EVAP VSV 90910-12175... I've realized I don't have that one for my build and first off I can't tell where it's supposed to be in the engine bay... or if the SC version is pretty much the same in function. What's your take on this?

Edit: I think I found it-- pictured and identified in this thread on a 2JZGTE VVT-i: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/per...9-gs300-3.html

So I assume you've got one hooked up already and I need one.

We are here

27 cleared
K&N air filter adaptor done & in with CUSTOM rattle can black finish.
Correct EGR VSV installed

BUT
We were having WEIRD boost issues.
If you FIREWALLED IT 5 lbs O boost MAX
BUT is you drove it " normally" and let the boost build to 5 PSI THEN fire walled it
10 lbs

So today we checked the actuator ( s ) and the forward one has a LEAK a BIG LEAK

So need PICTURES to see if we can pull it without replacing the turbo !!!

Monday is SMOG and we will roll the dice with what we have!

Vigman, which VSV is giving you the boost leak? Part number?

I've been out all day but I will be home soon and I can take a look at everything I have and compare to the Supra TSRM pictures.

On the turbo side, two VSVs are separate and the EGCV VSV and one other smaller one rest on the same bracket. I do believe all are accessible with the turbos in the car but you may need someone with medium sized or small hands to get in there.

Not the VSV but the forward diaphragm for the turbo

AKA Wastegate actuator

vigman,

I don't know how significantly the JDM CT20's you have on your car differ from the USDM CT12's I have but here is what mine look like. I noticed on mine I might be missing the IACV actuator. If it's not with my other USDM twin parts then I'm off on yet another search.

So here is what I am seeing. You identified the Wastegate Actuator (and no, Toyota won't sell it to you separately.. . of course) and here is mine. Located at the front of the engine. I've given about 90 degrees of view in these pictures.

It seems as if those front two bolts are 10mm or 12mm. That's the easy part. The NOT easy part is getting to the only other thing holding that actuator on: a little C-clip. I can see you fighting to get to it, fighting to align it with a little pick or screwdriver tool and possibly losing it in the engine bay. But those three things are all that seem to hold the wastegate actuator in place.

I'm not sure what to tell you but you'll at least need to dismantle the top side turbo intake cast piping to get your hands in there.

And here are a couple of views I've taken simulating what you should be seeing by looking DOWN into your GTE engine from above the engine bay. The one closeup picture might still be a strain for you to find by leaning at an angle but I believe I've just barely got that C-clip in view.

As you can see, it's far easier to get to from underneath the engine than from above it. I know you probably can see it with the engine in the car but I can't say how hard it will be to get to that little thing with long, small and highly rigid pick tools.

Whatever you do if you attempt this, have an extendable magnet tool pointed near the C-clip by someone else just in case.

Oh, just for kicks I looked up the part number on the wastage actuator to see if my current international importer can get it.

As a discounted price direct from Japan it is...

Wait for it.............

$1,861.24. And it reportedly weighs 17 lbs.

I think Toyota sells the entire front turbo with the wastage actuator as a full assembly. So you can get it without buying the ENTIRE twin turbo system... just half of it.

Also bear in mind that this part number is for a USDM front turbo which is completely different from yours which should have a different part number on the actuator's underside (which you won't be able to see very well from the top of the engine without a mirror tool).

KAHN you are a STUD ! yes that is the ticket,,,, now interesting,,, we have the JDM turbos BUT the exhaust DUMP is like yours 1 hole VS 2… You did give me the MONEY SHOT with the C clip from below.. What a PITA

It seems REALLY lame to make a removable actuator.. and ONLY sell it with the TURBO~

Thanks for these PIX it helps ALOT
