Looks like Fenning hit 4 digits on the dyno this week. Check the box for another CD009 holding big power. He's running a Collins kit with a Collins twin disc.

^^^ That is nice ! How much torque ?

Does he has a build thread anywhere ? Which collins kit and which particular twin disc clutch ?

I'm not sure if he has a build thread. But if your on Facebook just look him up at FenFab LLC.

I don't know the details of his exact setup, but I think he did the CD009 swap back in 2014, so whatever kit he's running I assume it's whatever version Collins was selling a couple years ago.

Torque I do not know either, but I believe he is running a BW S482 series turbo.

thanks.... yeah been reading that facebook account since this morning trying to find details.

I understand that you are now using the J1 bellhousing option adapter kit right ? That for me is the best I could tell when it comes to fitment.. no banging of tunnelj since it is the A340 fitment . I just wonder if anyone with a dual or triple clutch on that kit now .

surely this tranny option is getting more matured as time pass .

I am not currently, I'm still waiting on my kit from Collins...

Agreed on it getting more matured. Doesn't happen over night. It's been ongoing for a few years now, tweaking and improving, and I think we're finally seeing it start to get there now.

Sorry it's taken so long, but life is busy. So I got my second prototype fitting. This time made from actual aluminum. I test fitted it. It's 99% where I want it to be. I'm going to make some more minor tweaks to basically help it fit that plastic piece that comes with the shifter better. I'm going to thicken up the bottom tab that the shifter actually links to. Then instead of that being a thru-hole for that plastic piece, it'll be countersunk leaving maybe like 1mm of material at the bottom. So that way from the bottom the plastic piece is fully encapsulated (can never fall out the bottom). And also make it a hair thicker up top so that at the top it's surrounding as much of that plastic piece as possible.

Here's some pics of where I'm at. Right now, I cannot get into any of the forward gears (1-3-5) because you'll see where I drilled my holes to mount the shifter plate, it just ended up a little too far forward so the shifter is too close to the front. So I'm going to slot the holes forward a bit which should take care of that. I shaved down that rounded part like you all said. RIght now you can see the center of the shifter is at about 31.5". Once I slot those holes, it'll probably be closer to 32".

But now my question is how high are yours? Someone said 10 washers. I ended up at 12 washers in this picture, and could go as low as 11 (zinc plated M8 washers). I don't think I could get down to 10, I'd have shaved completely thru the material at that point. I'm assuming that are washers are perhaps a slightly different thickness? So anyway in my pics, you can see where my plate sits in comparison to the black existing cover. The bottom of my shifter plate is slightly below the surface that the black cover mates to. So I must be lower than Ali, because he is actually using a bolt from that black cover. But this is where I ended up. I could go a washer higher (13 washers) and maybe I'd be more inline with where Ali is at?

It may sound trivial, but it's actually important to make sure I get this fitting made right. Does anyone have an actual measurement?

So in the pictures above I had 12 washers. I just went and measured and that was at about 18.2mm.

I did 13 washers. This puts it so the bottom of the shifter plate is about flush with the top surface of the trans that the black plate mounts to. I measured the height with 13 washers and I was at about 19.7mm.

Can anyone please compare with theirs? Right now I'm leaning towards going with the 13 washer (19.7mm) arrangement, and designing the linkage piece as such. Once I'm all done with this, I fully plan on just buying some stock aluminum tubing and just cutting it as a single piece to say a nice even 19 or 20mm, instead of stacking washers.

Nice piece, yeah mine is a hair higher it sits on top of the cover, I didn't chop it off like you have done.
I would say maybe go with the level of that just to keep it consistent across the board. If you get the right amount of washers it should be fine.
Also the higher up you go the left to right movement wont be as stiff (think torque).
If I remember right there was also a left to right centering issue.

It does look like you need to go a few mm back on the whole plate, but if that doesn't do it you can also bevel the top edge on the piece you made, cause what happens is the bottom part of the shifter contacts the top of the adapter piece as you go forward, so instead of moving it all back if you put a bevel on the top edge of that aluminum piece, you might just get into the forward gears where you are. Where I had it in the final spot, I was only a few mm from contacting the adapter with the shifter. its a tight arrangement but can be done.

JUst some more pics. Just threw this thing in the band saw today. I cut roughly 31mm off the end. Then I drilled the holes in the exact spot that LoveSC called out. For me and my fitting I made, I'm going to have to slot those holes a bit to line up right for mine.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah I think I'll go with about 20mm up then. I have to edit the design in Solidworks, then hopefully have version 3 prototype next week., and hopefully it's 100%. Assuming it is, he should have enough material to make 2 more, if anyone else is interested.

I think I paid around 60 for my shifter. They are going for 40 now!!! This just keeps becoming a more affordable DIY option!

I'll have the measurements for you tomorrow evening when I can get my hands on the transmission.
Yeah its amazing how inexpensive those short throws are, one of the reasons I started with the 240sx one... might have to grab another one for the final fit.
