My other homie's almost done with my trunk but this is the only sneak-peek picture he gave me of how he cut the wood. Of course it will be wrapped trunk color but this is where the tank + ecu will mount.
Should be just in time for my Saturday bag installation.
I didn't see a comprehensive DIY on strut/springs removal with pictures HOPEFULLY I can get enough pictures to make one or at least explain the process.
P.S. Someone commented how it looks like the Pizza Hut logo/sign
Nothing ever goes 100% smoothly I noticed when modifying cars and this weekend came to an unfortunate halt during the rear Airrex strut installation.
Either I got a defective unit or something changed in the sizing of the rear lower strut stud (pardon my noob part reference lol) because it seems to be some stepped-lip cause it to not go all the way in to allow the threads to come through all the way to bolt-on.
This is the where I couldn't get the lower strut mount to go through it stops at the raised step lip.
As you can see the diameter here matches the oem air strut diameter hole perfectly on next picture.
Exact matching which is obvious because it goes through.
Here are the Airrex struts with obvious smaller diameter.
Lastly using our hands this was removeable from the strut and ALSO the culprit causing it to not install and go all the way in the first place. Notice how thin that material is, definitely poor design.
Now I'm currently awaiting the place I purchased the strut from as well as Airrex figured I contacted both to hopefully get a faster turnaround time.
That's not all folks!
I didn't have this special Toyota/Lexus SST (Special Service Tool) and found out it was like $35-50 for this little piece of plastic so we cut the oem air lines (it had a lot of slack so figured when needed go back to oem would get the tool then).
Now I can't even go back to stock struts until I find this tool which hopefully they stock at the dealer if not I need to find a way to get it asap while I await an answer from Airrex.
Hopefully once I get an answer from them and it is squared away we will know if newer model or F-Sport has some different rear strut mounting stud change causing it to not work and require them to release a separate strut for us.
I must say the daytime is very impressive just like how other user videos I've seen. It does have a slight fish-eye look but not as crazy as some others I've seen. Clarity is definitely 1080p as advertised.
Hey Lou,
** No worries for the emails! Sorry I didn't reply earlier, been out of town with limited email access. I confirmed with Airrex the mistake and they are going to ship you out the correct part. What is the serial number of your kit so I can forward to Airrex?their rep over there actually did an ls460 install a few days ago and ran into the same issue.

Assuming you're referring to the part at the bottom of this .pdf - I have it (somewhere), just need to find it.
By the way, while your buddy is in the trunk setting up your air you might as well finish up that custom JL sub box...
Lol.. did I even mention to do any sound upgrades? I think I may leave that part alone because I don't feel like sound matting the trunk again. Did it on a previous car and was soooo much work.
