Asterisk's VIP Inspired SC
Hey guys, since it's been some time since I started this car hobby and I've reached my goals a while ago I decided to make a build thread. When I first had my SC I had been searching around on Club Lexus for some inspiration and knowledge. While I was still in high school my brother was in the VIP scene with his GS430 at the time. I thought it was awesome that this new style had come to be and I wanted to join in.
<p><a href="https://vimeo.com/12614374">Crispy's Junction Produce GS430</a> from <a href="https://vimeo.com/fatlace">fatlace</a> on <a href="https://vimeo.com">Vimeo</a>.</p>
I wasn't sure what kind of car I wanted though. Both my older brothers had 2GSs and I wanted something that was different.
One of my brothers had suggested I get an SC300 that he found for sale. I had no idea what an SC looked like at the time, but I just trusted him that I'd get a cool car haha. The night we picked up the black on black SC300 I was kinda skeptical when I got into the car since it was a pretty different car compared to the 2GS I was used to seeing. The grip handle on the arch was kind of strange at first, but it grew on me. The car kinda smelled weird probably from the previous owner. The seats were torn. The cluster barely lit up. Soon after I realized that those were common issues for this car's age. It was my first car though, so it was all I had and I wanted to make the best of it.
My brother had a lot of cool little projects for us to work on like these red/clear 92/95 tail lights
Re-upholstery was our summer project too
Some memories from my high school days with a few friends

Some progress
A year later I finally had scraped up some money for mods:
5zigen Fireball Mega exhausts
Megan EZ Street coilovers
Work VS-XX custom step lip (at the time)
18x9.5 0 offset (215/40/18 Delinte)
18x10.5 +5 offset (235/40/18 Delinte)
These were built by VR Wheels. However, they were so aggressive that I had to run them backwards
Another year later I had sold the VS-XX's and bought an Auto Couture body kit from my friend who was parting out his SC. I was in the middle of paying off some new wheels, so it was quite a grind. But it happened, I got an Auto Couture body kit with Weds Kranze Bazreia wheels!
Weds Kranze Bazreia (custom step lip)
19x10 +26 offset (225/35/19 Accelera Phi) (+15mm spacer for LS calipers)
19x11 +26 offset (245/35/19 Accelera Phi)
My brother had also upgrade to an LS430 too!

Goals reached
After about a year of having the SC300 like this I came across a '99 SC400. It was pretty rare to see an 98+ SC400 like this that was already black. I knew I had to go for it. That being said I had to part with my SC300.
I decided to make it a little more appealing since I was keeping most of my stuff. I did like this look and it was kind of a shame to let it go.
Out with the old, in with the new
My brother finished his LS430 too!
Showoff x Stance Nation during Nisei Week 2015
And a few more to start off the new year

About a 3 year gap from updating anything on this thread haha
So after about 4 years of having the car that way I eventually got tired of driving everywhere to carefully, believe it or not I actually daily this car. I had been pondering on making this change for maybe 2 or 3 years and I had finally decided to go with it considering how the market is for SCs. I figured if nobody is willing to pay a lot for these cars, then I might as well enjoy it. So I pulled the trigger on a Vertex Ridge widebody and went through LuxuryMods to order it (yes they're still around, send an email if you're interested).
A few months right before the kit was about to arrive a girl down the street had smashed into my brother's LS430 into my SC with a horrible crash (incoming phone pictures for the accident)
The payout was pretty decent, but I didn't really have enough money to paint the vertex ridge kit when it arrived.
So the car looked like this for awhile
I also eventually upgraded my coilovers to Powered by Max too! 22kg front and 12kg rear spring rates!
I had sold the Weds Kranze Bazreias too with a goal for a more functional setup for these Work Meister M1 3p, it took another 4 months after the vertex ridge kit to arrive. I didn't have a whole lot of people to ask about fitment, so I ended up with specs too aggressive.

As some of you know I had become very inspired by Nakai san with RWB Porsches. So while I was studying abroad in Tokyo during fall I decided I had to get the same fender flares as Takahiro Ueno himself, his D1GP Soarer runs Uras Semiworks over fenders on top of the Vertex Ridge kit. I chose these fenders because they look somewhat like the fenders used on RWB 930 and 964s.
My car had been mismatch colors for well over a year and I decided to go with vinyl wrap in satin black, lots of inspiration from Nakai san's RWB Stella Artois II
I wanted to have similar specs with the RWBs too, no spacers used. I think the fitment came out nice.
Work Meister M1 3p (PG) Platinum Gold
18x10.5 -21 R-Disk 285/30/18
18x12 -12 O-Disk 335/30/18

I want your wheels so bad...
If you don't mind sharing, where did you take the beach photo? I've been looking for a stretch of ocean that I could take a picture like that, but every part of PCH in HB is a death trap even at 5 or 6 AM.
I was surprised when I first learned that a few years ago too.
