I actually used the chassis frame rails to lift the car with the Bendpak, and not the pinch weld jack points. (using the rubber blocks to support of course).

 

Ah got it. After doing a bit more research it looks like the model needed to lift the 3IS by the pinch weld jack points is 5000ext. Got my 5000slx on sale from home depot, but no sale on the ext....Bummer.

 

You're better off jacking it from the frame rails...it's a lot stronger than the pinch welds.
I'd love to have one of those jacks!

 

Haven't been under the car in a while, but aren't the frame rails far enough in from the perimeter of car to make lifting via quickjack a less appealing solution? I would think it makes it hard to get under there for work on things like the exhaust.

For any one wondering the quickjack 5000ext is the one you'll probably need for our cars. The pinch welds are too far apart for the standard 5000slx. I measured for clearance and it looks like quick jack's pinch weld blocks should (barely) fit in the space around the jack points as well.

 

I got the SLX + extensions, that way I can work on the Lexus plus vehicles with narrower jack points.

With the EXT, anything with a <=76.5"-ish wheelbase will be a tight squeeze/might not work.

 

Great point about using it with multiple vehicles. I had concerns about using the slx + extensions + pinch weld blocks on a lowered IS. It seemed like there might not be enough ground clearance to get it all underneath the car. Are you lowered by chance? Any clearance issues?
