Sup Boss?
Hows that infraRed treating you? Been quite lately.

Hey Mingo,
I'm still in love with my infrared, and I'm continuously amazed by the number of people that ask me if it's a custom color. I've been pretty quiet because I've been too darn busy with life in general. Thanks for asking. Back in the day, I had good results going with NGK plugs on my Supra that were a step or two cooler than stock. So, your mention of these intrigues me. I was always surprised by how dirty plugs looked with only 10k miles or so on them. I'm closing in on 20k miles on my RCF, and I wouldn't mind changing them out just for the sake of changing them out. Much like changing my full synthetic oil every 5k when I know that it's not technically necessary. Going a step colder seems reasonable, though I'm not sure if that would have an effect on my RR racing ECU tune.
Having not changed plugs on a vehicle since my MkIV Supra (which was super easy), how difficult is it to get to the plugs on the RCF? Thanks much!
Hey Boss,
sorry slow response. Been mia from here for a bit during holidays and work.
If you’re decent with a wrench you’ll be ok.
A few plugs were challenging due to tight access. Nothing some swivels and extensions can’t solve.
Having a swivel plug socket Vs a straight one definitely helps.
More new year stuff!
out with old and in with new. New Ti studs that is!!
Putting them in were actually major pain.
I’ve replaced oem studs before and it’s cake. Just pound out then pull new one in using lug nut and a spacer or bearing tool.
The Ti ones would never seat all the way flat again the back of hub. I assessed the reason being that the Ti doesn’t “peel” and conform, and neither does the 1/2” thick steel hub flange.
Ended up having to try to dismount the whole hub assemble to try to press the new studs in. But then ran into road block. The back of the bearing has a pressed on dust shield. It doesn’t come off. Or at least once I pryed it off, it wasn’t going to seal again..
Later found out the whole rear hub assemble is sold as one big part, with hub-bearing-flange-studs all together.
Ended up having to loosen the parking brake, slide a ball joint tool behind the Ti stud and hammer it home with a 1000lb impact. Geeze if I knew it was this much work, don’t think I would have gotten those studs.
All that was just the rears. Haven’t even attempted the fronts yet...
Started the cage install by taking out back seats and related.
Thanks to Lammyy for walking me through the seat belt bypass issue.
Thanks to Ron for a tip to get side bolsters out. Had me stumped for a bit.
