Default KW Update

So it appears that the clunking is due to the bushing on the lower control arm where the bottom of the strut connects to. I was able to straighten it a little but it will absolutely needs to be replaced. I'm waiting for the suspension to settle a little before evening out all corners to the height that i want but so far its looking pretty good. I've taken a couple of fast corners and the car handles completely different now. One downside however is that any large dips/ humps on the road cannot be taken at high speeds. The coils simply do not have enough travel for it so you have to slow down for things like dips or humps in the road otherwise the car feels like its going to lift off the ground. Maybe its because I don't have the proper settings for the compression/rebound yet but we will see. I know i need to adjust the front a bit because right now the car dives into any kind of dips/bumps which is likely a rebound issue. Ride quality aside from that is almost exactly like stock. Im honestly impressed by how comfortable these are. Small imperfections in the road are not felt a tall. There is no additional vibration or droning going on and going straight i sometimes forget that i'm on aftermarket suspension. If these had just a tad more travel and maybe a little softer springs, they would be perfect street performance coil.

Great job, are you going back with stock or poly bushings?

I'm going to try to put rubber bushings on if i can find them but first i need to check the ball joint to make sure its in good shape. Once the suspension settles i will be taking it for an alignment. We'll see if they can get the alignment within or close to factory specs. If they can then I will just replace the bushing and keep everything stock, if not then i may need to get some adjustable upper arms..... will be cool but not really looking forward to that bit of extra expense lol
Looking around it seems like the fronts can be had for a fairly reasonable price of sub $300 for a pair but the rears are harder to find and seem to be going for about 4-500. Gotta keep lookin

Default Seat Restoration - Passenger

Decided to restore the passenger seat using a cheapo method that I wasn't sure would work.
Materials:
Dap Dynaflex 230 ~ $5
SEM 17293 ~ $19
Tools:
12 mm socket
200ish grit sandpaper
Masking tape

For $24 it came out a hell of a lot better than I expected. Will be doing driver side on Monday which has a lot more damage in it than passenger. We will see how it goes.

V, great job on your seat. It always gives you a feeling of pride when you are able to do something by yourself and not pay someone else. I may have some questions about this process later since I have just purchased a set of seats from a pull a part but I am not ready to put them in yet.

Default Interior

Interior is 90% done. I need to get the pull handle for the driver side replaced and I'm contemplating doing another coat on the driver seat. But the more I look at it the more I think I'll leave it alone for now.

I also got some pics of the car after its been sitting on the coils for about 3 weeks. The rear needs to go down about 3/8 of an inch and then make sure that everything is even on all 4 corners. After that I will be getting it aligned and see how bad my camber is. I measured the ground clearance which is about 4.4 inches at its lowest point. About the same as a BMW M3. Also both of my foglights are cracked . The one on the driver side is bad enough that water is getting in, passenger side doesn't fog up as bad but both will need to be replaced....

V, car looks great lowered, perfect. What about clearance since we are both running same wheels? Hopefully I will be installing my springs and shocks/struts in the next couple of weeks.
Thanks, Bill

Thanks guys!

In terms of ground clearance, like I said in the other post, its about 4.4 inches at the lowest part. In terms of wheel well and fender. Its too tight to measure lol. All I know is i don't rub at any point. Not when during bumps, speed bumps or high speed corners. Not even uturns which some people said happens. I was planning on relocating the harness in the driver wheel well but I guess its still high enough that it doesn't touch it. I will probably still do it though since it's a fairly simple mod that doesn't require cutting any wires.
