Ah ok. Ill take a look at the file i sent rr, maybe i can open it with notepad, or maybe i can ask for the ecu ID after i get it tuned.
Im not the biggest fan of dealerships either but if they could update your ECU it would've saved you having to get rid of the tuner. Did you ask them?

I never asked the dealer. I'll ask my coworker if she could talk with her service rep to see the procedure of updating.

Well so I finally got my tune files but now I'm running into problems when trying to flash it on the car... the journey continues
EDIT: Scratch that, after playing around with it more I got it to work!
Love the better throttle mapping with the tune and the 7200 rpm redline the most. I just wish I could get the redline without being in manual with VSC off. Off the line there's basically no difference as evident by the dyno chart showing like +5 tq, but it def pulls better in the midrange all the way to redline.

To bad it couldn't be associated with the power switch which basically alters trans shift patterns already.

No no. The gains are there regardless of manual mode or not. The RPM limit is only reachable in manual mode with VSC/trac off. With the revised throttle mapping with the tune, I almost don't need power mode, normal mode feels close to power or sport mode(isf ecu). I am happy to say that my 250 can finally reach 0-60 approx from 1st to 2nd with the RPM increase. I wonder if it would cut the 0-60 time down now as the new 2019 mazda miata with similar power increase and redline increase cut it's 0-60 by 1 second.

Will the tune for the is250 get the same results (or better) if you have an intake and a catback exhaust? because on rr racings website it said the tune was made with stock intake and exhaust.

not sure, I'll wait for them to release a bolt on tune. I mean theoretically for my intake and exhaust should be +5 each so THEORETICALLY my car should be like 192-197 whp (baseline 160-165 + 22 whp tune + 10) now or maybe it's just 182 idk. not worth it for me to get it dyno'd atm. If they do release a bolt on tune, I'll see if it gives me a boost. It'd be nice to crack into 200 whp without headers lol

They are just simple bolt ons and shouldn't affect the tune. Updates should be free down the road that's what I see on the RR racing site anyway. so no harm in getting it early. Loving it so far

feels good. Throttle response is better and the car is overall a little more peppy in the higher end. Still not as fast as my friend in his Cooper S( 1400 lbs advantage and low end torque). I really love using the 7200 rpm limit especially on merges .

Nice to see that you're enjoying the changes made with the new tune. As MikeFig82 mentioned, it will take about 50-100 miles for the ECU to adjust as the Knock Correction Learn Value (KCLV) immediately drops to 15 when you flash a new tune which results in ignition timing being retarded. Once KCLV is above 20+, your ignition timing will return back to normal.
Though both the IS350 and IS250 require the transmission to be in S-mode in order to utilize the 7000+ RPM range, I'm surprised to hear that the IS250 also requires you to turn off VSC as well (this part is not necessary for the 2IS350).
If you haven't done so already, you can use phone apps like Torque Pro and OBD Fusion to collect real-time data on what the ECU is reading and you can also collect datalogs to analyze different metrics and how different mods or weather conditions impact performance.

Anyways, I recorded a little exhaust clip last night with the tune. Hope everyone enjoys their Friday!

Yeah the mid to high rpm bump in power is definitely noticeable.. 2nd gear in my IS350 is even more amazing then it used to be.. and I swear my car sounds a bit different with the tune as well.. definitely more peppy down low and sounds a bit louder when really up high in the rpms.. I love it though haha
