I always thought the trucks with the tow package had the heat exchanger/cooler mounted right to the trans like our 2IS but they don't, they hang lower and run lines to vs O-rings and sandwich plate. That said, the 350's limited space between the trans and exhaust would have the cooler real close to the ground and exhaust but it could be moved too, and mounted elsewhere as long as the coolant lines are not jeopardized.
This unit uses wax and thermal expansion of wax to switch from engine coolant heating/cooling to pushing the trans fluid forward to an external air/oil heat exchanger if the oil temp gets too high. I need to find the switch over point but I'd guess it's 210° / 220'ish or around there. This gives you a basic idea of the components involved.
First off let's throw a hand out to the clowns at Jiffy Lube for making this post possible as those idiots tightened the pan bolt and filter housing to 269ft/lbs... I had a whole leg on a half inch breaker bar to remove a PLASTIC FILTER CAP!
I can't believe the housing or filter cap didn't shear off! FFS people Yoda has a tapper on that filter cap compressing the O-ring, it just needs to not fall off in 5,000 miles!
I hate you #Jiffy Lube.
Exhibit A, what Not to do!
Now where does one get a steel washer for the oil pan drain? That bolt was pulling threads tight and felt like a torsion bar as I broke it free. I hate you #Jiffy Lube! Hopefully the pan isn't damaged.
Goes to Yoda to order new drain plug, washer, filter cup.
The good news is the virgin grease Zerks on the Drive Shaft have fresh grease after 100k miles... Yoda apparently fitted that with good grease and joints to go that long and not die. Yoda records do show it had at least 3 OEM services before it fell off the radar in 2010.
Weather will be over 100°F for a few days so that will slow service events. The good news is I now have a spare vehicle to allow that OS Giken unit to slip into the 350... Time is less critical.
Bummer about the Jiffy Lube experience. I tell my friends/family/co-workers to avoid them like the COVID virus!
I'd like to see the training they go through... Oh wait, what training??? Lol

Obviously you're kidding but damn this Delta variant is killing more than the first wave and has most US hospitals flooded with foolish antivaxer's. Elective surgeries that could be life saving for many are being pushed out again for people who chose to play God with their life and got dealt a no win/no life card.
Pretty bad choice if you ask me.
I know too many nurses that are paying the price too. To save someone who what, thought they were invincible? Get your shots people!

I was joking and showing my disdain for Jiffy lube at the same time. On the other front, I'm vaccinated, and wear a mask in public. I know a few people who are vaccinated and caught the delta variant, and thankfully they only got mildly sick so the vaccine works. Here in Santa Clara county the numbers and hospitalizations are low due to most of the population here being vaccinated. 100 percent agreement with you, if someone is not vaccinated for reasons other than being highly allergic, they are playing with their lives

I knew that... no worries man.
Ya, me too. I have elders who are compromised and even with the vaccine, we have to play it safe as their aged bodies and compromised cardio state could easily be taken out and I don't wish to be the one who does that. Especially when you don't know if you're carrying.

Sounds like the upcoming Labor Day weekend will be a good time for you to finally labor away at getting that OS Giken installed onto your IS350 (before winter creeps up on you).

After moving and getting things back in order I'll need a F'g vacation. Then we do the OS G! I promise!!!
Well, after the fluids in the truck! And maybe gutting the house for new floors!
Christ LOL. You think your getting new brakes but your actually getting a clutch. Did you say Orlando, FL? Well that explains it, lots of old people you can fleece...
Another thing that is wrong with that picture is that they're installing it directly onto the trans input shaft. They're gonna have a hell of a time getting to engage without a pressure plate AND mounting it to the flywheel!
