Using the harbor freight mini-lathe to shorten up a crank-to-torque converter adapter. I ran without one previously at the suggestion of the trans builder, but the torque converter was off-center by roughly 0.010" or .25mm. Measuring tells me this should fit, maybe it can center up the torque converter better. Flex plate on Getting ready Almost in hey, oil pan fits good! Doesnt hang lower than the cross member. Will double check when the engine mounts are tightened up
Lookin good Kyle! I've heard decent things about those harbor freight lathes as long as you check that everything is torqued properly. Looks like yours gets some good use!
Added some aluminum heat sheilds to protect the engine mounts Modified a JZZ30 undertray to fit, to stop radiator air recirulation thats still happeneing Scavenge pump did not like eating all those turbo bearings. Tried to save the fitting, and learned why not to buy them from amazon... Back to the Dyno!
709 WHP, the goal was 760. The waste gate is maxed out, a new spring will let me push the boost a little higher. The best part was not a single drop of oil under the car after 15 pulls. Previously there was 1-2 quarts on the floor, lol
Kyle you know I'm a big fan - stoked to see you back and at it! Can't wait to see what kind of events you get yourself into with this all tuned up and ready to rock.
This is the last post from me to this thread, and a sad end to the project. Took the car to Arkansas for the fall 2023 race, on the first pass at 60pmh the engine torched a hole through the side of the head. I believe that I pushed the tune too far searching for extra power after the last rebuild. Those last few degrees of timing I put in did not go over well, haha. Car was parted out, and the shell was sold to be crushed for $400 in scrap metal $.
I will be content with the 183mph record, until the itch comes back to build a faster car.
