Black interior swap - Dashboard
Hello,
I finally did the dashboard swap (grey to black) and I can confirm that it was a huge pain to do ! I did not document the whole process but did follow this video (
) that goes through the whole process step-by-step so huge shoutout to "mistervaso".
I think it took me 2 hours to get to this stage.
I swapped over different components :
New dash in:
I actually purchased a black release cable a few months back thinking I could change it in 5 minutes - I was wrong. This also was a huge pain to change as you cant see anything and have to rely on touch/feeling. Would not recommend.
Nearly there!
Dashboard is in !
I am actually really happy with it and love the look! Steering wheel and carpet is next!
Thanks,
Yann.

I looked into this for a previous car, I think it comes down to method! The spray cans are easier but I think those may cause the texture issues.
I never went through with it, but the method i was leaning towards was with Rit dye, where you basically put the carpet in a big trash can for a few days with the dye, im sure you could find some diys online.
If you're going to replace the carpet anyway might as well give dye a shot first!

Just read through this entire thread...great job documenting your journey! I recently purchased a 2004 UL and am located in the ATL OTP north area. I'd be interested in a meet up sometime!

Amazing work on the dash. The deeper you dig into these cars, the more appreciation you have for how well they were designed and put together.

Maintenance update
Hello Clublexus!
Here are the latest updates for the LS - I'll let the pictures do the talking!
New addition to the family!
Finally found some black lower vent covers (actually hard to find)
I also found this black carpet vent in Dubai ( Had it shipped with some other goodies)
The latest in terms of "maintenance" was to replace one of the inner door cables that broke:
Purchased the OEM part on ebay and it arrived within 2 days:
The door is back together and works perfectly!
More updates to follow!
Thanks.

Update Part 2 - Once again i'll let the pictures tell the story!
I finally found & purchased a black steering wheel in good condition:
Home depot run - I had to park next to the Flint Mica LS!
I found a great deal on FB where someone was selling a full set of the smoked wood trim kit.
Most recently I replaced the steering wheel (very easy job):
The interior is nearly complete! Unless I find a black carpet soon I will most likely dye the tan one and see if I am happy with the result.
Look - a white LS with a black interior, how rare!
Thanks for reading!

Congrats and love the build as previously mentioned lol. The amount of detailed photos in your thread are helpful! AND at least I'm not the only one who purposely parks next to another LS 430 lol.
