Nice...
Found thread, it was RSR down springs someone else used. Subtle lower like this. I have no brand preference, so whatever works. I would keep everything else stock though.

I did just order the taillight vinyl covers as well from your thread.

Default image on Amazon for 4GS is Red (when you add a car to your 'garage' for parts compatibility).

Tracking down a rattle in the rear, passenger side.

This doesn't look right:

Attachment 504332
Attachment 504333
Attachment 504334

Took a while to figure out what it even is.

SHIELD, QUARTER VENT
62947-30020

Supposed to look like this:
Attachment 504335

I wonder how it got so broken: it's up high, recessed.
Must have been a stick or something that got tossed up in there hard.

Old vs 'New'

'New'

Still not sure what broke the original part, but what a load off my mind.

If u don’t mind me asking, when u purchased the trunk spoiler from eBay how did they know what color to paint it? I would like to purchase one but it doesn’t give me the option to put in my paint code. Dope build by the way.

Thank you!

You provide the paint code via ebay msg after you place the order.
I was really impressed w the quality of work and the speed. Same for the roof spoiler.

Inspired by oldwineguy, I bought a fender washer kit to secure engine bay covers using NRG Innovations FW-100RD.

1/2" stepped drill widened the holes to allow for the back-end.
Easy install and nice aesthetic addition to the bay.

Ordinary engine bay.

1/2" Stepped drill bit, perfect for widening existing holes in aluminum and plastic.

Holes drilled, machine screw bases installed. The kit comes with a tool to secure the base using a 10mm wrench.

Closeup of bases: they really are clever and easy to install.

Complete. Covers are actually secured in place, not floating.

Replaced wood/leather w all leather steering wheel. The wood is so pretty, but it's hard on the hands, and I never cared for the difference in friction between the wood and leather. All leather is more comfortable and feels the same at any angle.

What does the mouse upgrade do for the navigation system? I’m thinking I want to do that as well. Is the install easy?

Nothing. Mine had developed a funky feel as can happen w aging rubber, and the concave shape of the replacement is easier to manipulate.

Super easy: pull old one off, push new one on.

I agree on the wood feel. The loss of fiction makes knee driving challenging. When switching to the full leather wheel, is the heated area extended?

No, it still heats in the same area as a wood wheel.

New tires: 245/45R-18 Sumitomo HTR A/S P03 XL - $570 delivered from tirerack.
Lowered on Tanabes, there is no rubbing even w the slightly larger size.

The tires bulge a little more because they are slightly wider, offers great rim protection when parallel parking.
Very happy with the ride comfort, sacrificing some performance for cushion.
They are very quiet.

The tires themselves were very highly rated on tirerack reviews, decided to take a chance on them vs the Pilot Sports, which were on previously.

After logging several hundred miles around town and hiway, I am really happy w the feel of the larger/wider tires.
Bumps are more forgiving, and the ride overall is more comfortable.
No, I cannot corner as quickly, but I was not doing that before.

I like the lowering for looks and the tires for comfort.
It seems such a strange mix, but I'm very happy w the combination.

Edit 20220408: After many months, I'm even more convinced the larger size touring tires are a great choice for any kind of normal driving. I love driving this car so much.

I recently hit 100k mi.

I figured front and rear diff fluids couldn’t hurt.

Rear fluid looked incredible: still transparent yellow, only a bit of thick gray paste at the magnet. That fluid could have gone another 50k miles easily.

Front fluid showed more age: darker amber, still quite transparent up close but much darker than the new fluid. Very thin paste at the magnet. Getting at the fill plug in the front is tricky, very hard to get back in with larger hands.

I used gl-5 75w85 for the rear and gl-5 85w90 for the front. Also ordered a set of transmission and diff replacement washers for like $6 on amazon, includes what you need to replace any of them.
