Thinking about it now - the OEM lenes are not that much more that the ALiexpress copies for my model.

yes thankfully for now I am happy enough with how they came out, although the guy who did it did mention that he does replace lenses if required, it probably helps to have a bit of experience as he said they need to go into an oven for the seal to be heated evenly

So currently I am waiting for new hood hinges to be delivered to the panel shop before any progress can be made, when I last rang it seems that the hinges have been lost or something so more delays...
So for now I thought if I could try and fit the hood with the old hinges, it may be a few mm off but at least the car would be on the road and not taking up room in my shed which is getting to be a bit of a hassle now
Hood unpacked
all parts installed
And on the car
There are definitely alignment issues, but nothing is touching so I think it will be fine to get it rolling again

this also meant that I could fit up the rest of the front end, being careful of issues with the hood
Headlights on
Front bumper on
Headlight washer covers on
This is where it sits for now, I just need to do the inner guard liners and undertray and then I can actually drive it around until the panel shop is ready!
you can see the grey colored parking sensors, this is due to them breaking when the panel shop removed them. I had a few genuine spares floating around so I fitted these and the system is working fine, they will just need to be color matched in due time

Looks good, are you planning on having the shop paint blend onto the doors?

I have been doing some driving with the car now and all seems to be going well. It was due a transmission service so I had that done and the aircon has been re-gassed as well.
The aircon guy mentioned that the low pressure reading was a bit... low so it might need a TX valve as it makes the compressor work harder. having a look into it the TX valve is behind the dash so for now I will be leaving it alone!

well not much has happened in this space, The body shop was supposed to have ordered new bonnet hinges but every time I go in and ask they say they will chase it up... anyway I have given up after months of waiting and just ordered hinges through a local dealer. I will either need to have an awkward chat by rocking up with my own hinges and seeing if they want to finish off the bodywork or just find a different shop.
In other news I have also pulled the trigger and ordered a new drivers seat base cushion, it have been giving me a sore back driving this thing so I think that is the culprit. I intend to give it a go myself to replace it

Car is booked in now for the final body kit and paint work on the 4th of September, looking forward to it.
in the mean time i replaced the driver seat cushion
seat out and on the bench
Bottom base off
new vs old cushion
new cushion installed into base
All done
It definitely feels better now and more supportive, so a job worth doing

Inspired the The car care nut, i recently replaced the PCV system
As it was, random hose installed at some point
Old hose vs new
new cover for the PCV valve vs old
old PCV valve vs new
Rock solid old grommet
eventually it fell in and i had to fish it out
Old grommet vs new
installed
New PCV in
New foam cover for PCV on
and new hose on
I also replace the hose from the left rocker cover to the airbox
and this is why, old and cracked, new one for comparison
and installed
No immediate performance differences but some peace of mind!
the only thing left is the worm drive clamps I had to re-use on the right side PCV hose, i need to order some of the spring clamps

other small things, when the front guards were painted somehow the the clips that hold the headlights in were lost, when I reassembled it all I had to put in some temporary clips which meant the headlights were slightly loose and I could see them moving at night
old clip
new genuine clip

Nice work - you've been busy. Coming together nicely now.
Seeing you had success with the seat cushion, I might try the same. I've had two of these cars now and in both I could feel the seat frame coming through from below.

Well after a long wait the car Finally came back from the panel beaters with the following list done
The body kit did not work out as my painter was not happy with the finish and did not want to use too much filler to get a perfect finish, and I am OK with that so i will go without it
For now I have just been enjoying driving it daily again!
- Front bumper pods painted.
- Front bumper Chrome trim replaced.
- Grille Painted
- Rear bumper painted and chrome trim installed.
- Roof trims painted.
- Rear spoiler installed and painted.
- Bonnet hinges installed
