Default Ls400 daily vip wanna go fast build

Here she goes in all her glory.....and only running on 6 cylinders (more on that later) a 96 coach edition I picked up for $300 car wouldn't stay running/idle unless your foot was on the gas pedal at all times. The interior was in decent shape besides the seat they were trash... More to come

Default Interior cleaning

Time for some cleaning the carpet was nasty! Luckily I have plenty of cleaner in stock do to having some furry babies lol.

Took the seats out and tossed them due to them being cracked/badly damaged. I found some seats in better condition at my local pullapart but they are grey.

These will have to due till I find some that will match.

Default Diagnostic time

Well i thought it was going to be a simple fix but came to realize im better of swapping the engine with something else.... So while I was trouble shooting the no idling issue I found a few problems....

Hhhmmm... lol

Some research i found these cars are known for the engine harnesses getting heat stressed

Corroded fuses

And one of the dead cylinders no compression on both of them

Time to get this paper weight out and gone...

Paper weight is out this thing was heavy and awkward to pull solo

Listed it local and ended up selling the engine, trans, harness, and ecu for $300 the buyer had plans to use it as a mock up engine for his project he didnt care that it was hurt.

this bay was filthy time to clean it up some

Before

After needs another pass or 2 with the pressure washer

Also acquired my swap a 4.8 ls out of a Silverado

Found a 4l80e locally going to stay auto with this swap since it's going to be a daily driver.

Engine is on the stand and ready for tear down then off to the machine shop it goes.

Engine is off to the machine shop to get honed and cleaned...in the mean time more parts for the build is showing up.

Still on the fence about using the factory GM harness or getting a standalone unit with new harness.

While im still thinking what route I want to take i decided to start the process of deleting pins i don't need and re routing the harness.

Final result of taking out the unnecessary pins, rerouting some plugs, and branching off the "hot" wires for the fuse box i got.

So the abs unit has to go so i can make room for the swap and possible turbo setup after the engine is broken in.

Default ABS removal

Got the abs removed and lines rerouted this metric T was a pain to find.

the rear line was the easiest to do plenty of oe line to reuse

Default Transmission teardown

Engine is almost done at the machine shop so time to gut this thing for a rebuild. While i have everything out im going to do some test fitting (since the transmission case will be empty and easier to move)

Mmmm yummy looks like some water got onto the pan

More sludge

Everything out of the transmission and laid out in somewhat of an order.

On a positive note no sign of sludge in the case just in the pan and valve body.

Canton front sump oil pan is a must to clear the subframe. Thanks to summit for having low prices.

Also picked up a compressor for the shop

More cleaning

Teach them while they are still young lol got the timing chain and heads on.

Gitech throttle body with the tbss intake looking good. Need to touch up the timing cover and block with sone high temp paint.

This is how far off it is from mounting up. Have some oe lexus mounts on the way for my slide brackets. 🤞 for some test fitting this week.

Tunnel clearance for the 4l80e needs some massaging ⚒🔨
