'08 JDM GS460 Mods (Because it's inevitable)
I may as well bump up on here my own wee build thread starting now, because it's looking like I may have caught the Lexus V8 bug again *sigh. Of course money is always the big issue in getting these things done, so I imagine it will be a pretty slow roll in here but... It's inevitable, so here's me starting a thread
Currently it's the most bog stock GS460 with 80km on the clock, 1UR-FSE and AA80E 8 Speed Auto. Standard it has the D4-S direct injection and dual VVT-iE, making 390 PS and 500 Nm. Nearly 400HP straight off the show room floor... Pretty F'n impressive if you ask me.
My beasty is Jade Green with black leather that has reddish brown undertone. It's fitted with the sport package, and does not have moon roof, radar cruise or parking assist which didn't really rank high on my wish list anyway. This photo is before I did the full detail on it, but it still looks pretty good... I can't believe I haven't photographed the ****** out it it come to think of it *note to self, must do
Bog Stock, not even detailed : Jade Green
Bog stock interior : Black Leather
First port to call in to will be the tinting lads, but this time I'm not doing the hood black limo tint I usually do, I think this deserves more class on this number and looking at the smokey mirror kind of look and think it would look the business. If anyone has a shot of a similar make up I'd appreciate a gander.
At the moment I am carefully looking at exhaust systems, mainly for the fact I like the sound of a V8, but I'm also acutely aware of the drone that can be resultant from this so something switchable would be nice if something of reasonable quality that can fit exists. I don't think it will be possible to have nil-drone with such a mod and it's not that I mind too much other than the fact that it's a classy car and does it really need it? Unfortunately I know myself too well so I guess watch this space Besides, later later it will change to a full system decked with some shorty's if it can be done no doubt, just to top off the HKS Super Charger kit I'm dreaming about, giving it roughly another 100 ponies which would be nice. I still have to do a whole lot of research here though, but HKS keeps popping up... Thoughts?
It's definitely in need of some decent rims, but I need to look in to performance with this mod, this MUST be an improvement. When heavy cornering is happening with such a heavy vehicle, I tend to get nervous about sidewall strength of tyres, so any combo wheel and tyre sizing comments, or any thoughts or suggestions relating to this build really, are all greatly welcomed, anything. What a damned fine car! Any mods I do will usually be quite subtle in look, I like a clean line and staunch standing and I think this is the perfect package for that.
Wish me luck

Thanks man! First up for me very soon I've decided is exhaust. For your reference, I have found no good switchable units out there that won't hinder performance and/or operate poorly. I won't bother with the stock sounding clip based on the fact she is quiet as hell.
When I have made a change I will post up a sound clip from inside and outside so you guys can hear for yourself what that does... can't wait! 😀

Very nice 460. Always enjoy seeing new, enthusiastic owners of these rare gems
Unless there's something different with the 1UR in the JDM version, the GS460's engine is detuned from the LS460's, giving it 342 hp and 339 tq. Still good numbers, but not quite the same, unfortunately. If there is something different with the JDM version, I'd definitely like to know.
Best of luck on your build! It'll be a spendy one

I'm seriously looking at getting a GS460 myself
Great to see someone from NZ looking at putting some upgrades into their GS (Very little information as far as I can find)
Please keep us posted on what you do to this beauty of a car

It was my understanding after a bit of reading if you had the sport switch for the suspension it had the sport package, there are meant to be quite a lot that don't have it, so that that was simply the reasoning behind my belief it had the sports package. Maybe it's not the case, you are making me question it now lol

I have the sports suspension switch as well
Only seen sport package in people talking about their cars, none in any documentation
I believe that it just means you have adjustable suspension
Where did you find that code on your car?
Just looked at the windshield cutout for the number on my car
You're in NZ I thought, where do you get 100RON?
