There's a whole big thread on this. Basically, when the battery ages, it doesn't make good contact when the starter solenoid engages, so the contacts get damaged. When you hit it with a good battery, the contacts fail so the motor doesn't turn. The starter motor is just fine, but the solenoid that completes the circuit is the failure item. I have one on the shelf with the connector body and the harness cover for the next time this happens on either the IS F or GS F. They use the exact same parts.

Yep...I was puzzled as well. But then read on CL of owners having the same issue. Also doesn't help that I've gone through like 5 batteries in 7 years. I can't find the parasitic draw (assuming there is one). But in the end, the new starter works well, but that labor cost was painful.

Next up, wet sanding and re-clearcoating my APR wing. Lesson learned....don't let standing water or ice sit on it for long periods.

March 2024 - Wing repair, new tires

So I've had my APR GTC300 wing for about 3 years now I think. The F has been garaged all its life until the past year. Lesson learned...don't let water or ice sit on carbon fiber. Destroys the clearcoat. So had to get it sanded and recleared.

Also just ordered fresh new Bridgestone RE-71RS tires for the track. Next track day is Mid Ohio Aptil 13 (with about 6-7 other F owners) which was repaved over the winter.

April 2024 - Mid Ohio Track Day

Winter is finally over! Fresh fluids and RE-71RS tires and ready to hit the track. Headed to Mid Ohio after being freshly paved in the off season. We were the 2nd group on the new track. Was so much smoother. Was 2 seconds off my PB, but I think I'm slowing down in my old age.

Shoutout to Autointerests for letting us snap this awesome pic!

Scary moment....A buddy that was with us was actually doing a car control class in the parking lot at Mid Ohio when his throttle got stuck. Plowed into a fence even with 2 feet on the brakes. Car was still trying to go even after the fence stopped him. Very strange and unfortunate event. Thankfully he was OK.
