Question for Vancouver People
Hi!
I'm new on the board.
Just wanted to know where do you guys buy your tires??? and what brands would you suggest on getting??
As I need to replace mine soon, I find that some times it feels that they're sliding a bit on wet pavement
Thanks!

Hi!
welcome to the forum!!
i buy my tires from volco tires
they are the canadian counterpart of 1010tires.com
you could also look into tiretrends.com for cheap pricing but they are in maple ridge so its a bit of a drive but for some tires, the saving is worth it if u have time to spend

I get mine brought in by Garage-5 in Richmond ... I'm currently riding on Falkens ... G5 brings you what ever tire you want from the States
pm me if you want more info on that
also ... what's your ride?

i've purchased from tiretrends.com, drove out for the install to save on shipping... it IS a bit far... the other place i've tried is South sth or other... corner of Hastings and Commercial in Vancouver... the ppl are strange to say the least... and i wouldn't recommend having them install your tires if u have nice rims... they ARE cheap tho... the other place to check out is PDM-racing.com they are a local tuner in burnaby and can order in tires (mostly kumhos i think)...
i've used Kumho 712s for autocrossing and they were great wet/dry, obviously not as good as a hardcore summer tire but fun nonetheless...
good luck!

depends on ur needs and what model of Falkens u are using
ive had Ziex-512 on my old car b4
tread wear was ok if u kept it properly inflated but then my old car wasnt heavy either so it was easy on the tires
Ziex-512s (being the most popular model other than Azenis) are great in the wet
it was one of the main reasons why i got it for my car, it is very fitting for vancouver's wet climate
i remember driving over big big puddles of water on hwy 1 near willingdon without problems in big rain storms
r u planning to get summer tires or all season?

kumho ecsta supra 712's are garbage... i had them on my AW11... horrible wet weather traction, and very bad heat cycling... if you got those tires hot, they stuck less and less... decent street tire, but i'd NEVER take them to the track or autoX... they lasted a hella long time tho...
ziex 512s are JUNK... i had them on my AE86 corolla GTS... lasted me less than 15,000kms... they were okay in the rain, okay in the dry... but horrible HORRIBLE tread life... you could see chunks and bits of tire shred off if you followed me into a high speed turn... even if they were properly inflated... and the sidewalls are gushy and soft... and the shoulders of the tire would always feather off... and wear on the tire would be half way up the sidewall with 34psi in the tires... absolutely NOT acceptable...
i've run azenis RT215's and they were good... RT615' sidewalls are a bit softer, and much stickier...
if you want a set of good set of tires that are good for the money, and performance oriented and work well in the rain... then go for the hankook ventus RS-2 Z212... my buddy with his IS300 runs those and he really likes them... waaaaay better than the factory bridgestone potenza RE040s he had before...

Between both the current and previous SC 400, I've had the following tires:
Toyo Proxes TPT
Falken Ziex ZE-512
Dunlop SP Sport A2 Plus
So far the Falken's seem to be performing the best and have the best wet pavement traction. I'm on my 2nd set...they don't last very long, you'll need to rotate them frequently. The Toyo's were nice for about 5,000KM but began "separating" and I went through 2 sets under warranty. The Dunlops were ok but offered absolutely no traction in even 1 mm of snow.
Might try a set of Yoko's next but I'm getting mixed reports of how well they will perform because the car is considered quite heavy for the tire.
There are a number of web sites that will give you consumer feedback on various tires.
I've bought my tires from either Volco or OK Tires. Volco has good prices but the service will vary depending on which one you go to.

Yoko Advan S4 is a fairly new tire but so far from what ive been reading on the net, it seems like a pretty good tire
it is good for heavy and high performance luxury sedans and coupes like Lexus
price isnt bad either
its prob what im gonna end up getting for my next set

if u want summers, hankook also has a few good tires to choose from
such as K105
RS-2's are good too as said above by narfy
