New here...Looking for advice.
Hey guys. I am new to Lexus. I used to own a 325xi a while back. Recently sold it for a black/black IS350..... I think somebody hit my front bumper a few days ago. I can't really justify whether it actually chipped the paints off since my bumper is black...but then when I touch it I cannot feel the gloss...I can only feel a very "matt" finish to the scratch.
there is a deep vertical scratch on the angle of my front bumper....you guys think it's best for me to contact a dealer for some touchup paints, apply it myself and use a scratch remover to at least make it look better?
Appreciate any helpful advice.
My IS is only a week old
Also, are there any meetings here in Vancouver? ppl seems to be quite inactive here

welcome to the club.
well, is the chip really small??? or else you should be able to see the paint.
ouch....deep scratches are no good. yeah, touchup would be the only option unless you wanna repaint the whole bumper.
meetings only happens rarely...hahaha....i've only been to one ever since i got my IS in April

I will take some clear photos tomorrow. It seems the scratched part looks flat and dull so the paint is probably gone...
it's my first black car and i would like to keep it lookin wet and glossy..I used to just get my detailing stuff from Canadian Tire but after checking out this forum it seems like there are lots of better brand wax/polishes out there ? What do you guys use? I would like to detail my car in a few weeks so are there any steps that I can omit since the paint is relatively new?

after washing the car, you can probably avoid clay baring and polishing and just move onto waxing for the rest of the car since its still relatively new and clean
dont cover the freshly touched up spot with wax yet though
i would let it dry up and cure as much as possible before putting anything over it
i use Collinite 476 wax to protect my car
its the longest lasting carnauba wax around
but then there are some polymer waxes that can outlast it
for example
FMJ is a great product (full molecular jacket made by a german company)
Klasse AIO and Sealant are also great too
Clublexus and other forum's favourite is Zaino
it gives an incredible shine but needs a bit of work
Meguiars products are great too if you prefer to buy products locally
