Yep they do need a warrant, but they can keep you there while they try to get a warrant, so usually people just let them do it rather than wait.

Re: car searching.
- they need a warrant like Kaydee said, also, warrants are only issued if the cop can convince the issuing judge that there is cause - If it were me I would probably say no dice, warrant or no searchy for you po-po

The sad truth is 99% of people do not know their rights - even worse most cops don't even know the laws - how many criminals go free due to cops violating peoples' rights and messing up investigations...

wow. but getting a warrant can take hours or even days right? I guess if we have nothing illegal then it's better to cooperate, even if it violates our rights. It's not worth it to be on the blacklist

if i remember correctly, we were charging around $240 to lower an IS250/350, this was like 2 years ago, and this was just the labour. roughly 3hrs+ needed to lower the IS.

How is that a ripoff? that's 2-3 hours of labor. at my shop that would be $220-$330.

^ 220~330, does that include alignment? and was that the price 2 years ago as well?

cause I had my car lowered for $180 2 years ago, $330 is almost a double of what I paid. If $290~330 doesn't include alignment, then I can't find any other words to describe it beside "rip off".

alignment is about 1 to 1.5hrs, so thus most places that do alignment charge $100 bucks, or at least around that range.

shop rate varies from shop to shop. but a lowering job is around 2.5 to 3hrs, depending if its just springs or coilovers. though the procedure is identical, you still need to factor the time for adjusting the coilovers to the right height.

shop rates vary from $70/hr to $100/hr. dealerships are now up to $140/hr.

^ yup, i did my alignment separately at Advance in Richmond No.6 Rd. They charged me $90 +tax. So springs installation + alignment were about $280 for me.

no, that wouldn't include an alignment. that would be another charge.

it's not a rip off by any means. shop labor rates vary, so it depends on what shop you take it to.

labor (110/hr) + alignment + tax

yeah they just gave me a quote for the installation not including alignment. still waiting for garage 5 to reply me with their quote.

edit:
just got the quote from garage 5: $225 + taxes for installation, and $130 for alignment. price is definitely better than rise auto's.
