Default Buying a used ISX50 in the US help

Well I got a buyer for my impreza and just working out the details. Just wondering if any of you have experience with buying USED from the US. Are there any good dealership to deal with?

There is a a lot more selection and better deals out there. I live right buy boarder (Winnipeg, MB) and don't mind driving down to pick one up or getting it shipped up.

I've been looking on cars.com and autotrader.com so far.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

I have imported several times. If your vin starts with a "J" you will have to pay an import tax of 6.1%, no import tax on vins that start with 1,2,3 or 4. You will also have to pay $210.00 misc fee(this covers your federal inspection at cdn tire) + 100.00 a/c tax. You will need to fax the title of the vehicle to the USA border crossing 72 hours prior to importing to Canada. Big savings buying in the USA, also find a state that does not charge tax for out of state sales.

Default State does not charge tax for out of state sales ...

Where can we find such info regarding this, or do you have a list of state close to Canada/US boarder ?

Thanks,

Thanks,
New York and PA are exempt, I have heard conflicting info regarding the new OH tax laws. Each state is different so you will have to ask or use google for info.

I helped my girlfriend buy her 2008 subaru forester in the US and she saved $10,000 even after duties.

Great tip on the VIN number. So I'm asuming "J" means it was bulit in Japan. And the rest and bulit in north america. Is there a a certain model or year where the ISX50 was bulit in Japan vs North America?

Check out RIV.ca for info on importing cars over.

All of the ISX50 are built in Japan, I just mentioned the vin digits as general info. The only domestic Lexus I am aware of is the RX350 which is built in Cambridge Ont.
