Unique no-drill front plate solution
This weekend I was walking around the Toronto beaches, and saw a blue Audi S4 with an Ontario license plate decal on the front bumper. The decal had a white reflective background, and blue text. From a distance of a few feet it appeared almost identical to an Ontario plate.
Has anybody else ever seen anything like this? If so, do you know where they are available?

we have a couple of guys here who do it. i've seen porsches and r8 with the stick-on decal license plates. it's technically illegal and you can be slapped with a major fine for it, but sometimes cops don't pay too much attention to those things.

It appeared like he had put some type of clear laminate (maybe it was the 3m bumper protector stuff) underneath the plate sticker, so perhaps that peels off easier.
I didn't take a pic, as I didn't have my phone (or camera) on me at the time. I was kicking myself. I wanted to leave the guy a note and ask where he got it, but I thought that might have been a bit creepy.
I don't think it was done through the government office...
I figured it was illegal, but thought it is a better option than driving around with no front plate (like I am now). As I said, from a bit of distance, it really looked like a real plate. I don't think most cops would give it a second thought, at least not as much as having nothing.

We were discussing the legality of the plate and he had some good retorts to my queries. It is following the legality of the law as he is not modifying the plate he is not using it at all . It says it needs to be visible but nothing about the same one. He has been pulled over and no cop has bothered as it looks fine until you get a close look.
