It is law here in Quebec to have a proper winter tire... I'm pretty sure that this year - and if not, next year - it will be law in Ontario as well.

That's a fair price for a winter setup. But since you're new to Ontario I would definitely recommend snow tires. The east coast gets more snow than anywhere in Canada.

I moved up here from Jersey 2 years ago and have to say snow tires are very much needed. What brand of snowtires are you getting for $750?

GS300 is RWD if i'm not mistaken so yeah I would suggest snowtires. I had a GS400 and was very difficult to drive in a couple inches of snow. With snow tires it was good up to 3-4 inches but past that good luck. Last Christmas, I remember getting stuck in Buffalo because my car kept getting stuck in 6" plus snow.

As for the Pirelli W210 I'm not to sure about the reviews on that brand. I know the best are Nokians and Bridgestone Blizzaks. I have Federals (Made by Nokian according to Steelcase) and they ran me about 900\mounted and did an excellent job.

You 100% need winter tires especially with RWD gs if you are doing regular+ driving in the GTA during snow months.

Another +1 for good guys at Steelcase in Markham.

Just so you know I'm selling a set of 4 Bridgestone Blizzak WS-60 16" tires mounted and balanced on OEM Lexus rims for only $399. The tires only have 2700 miles on them in excellent condition and used 2 winter seasons (these Blizzak WS-60 are rated the best winter tire by Tire Rack). They are used on my second generation 2000 GS4. Send me a PM if interested in saving some money.

I would strongly recommend winter tires as well. You may be able to "survive" on all-season tires but you'll have a much easier time driving with winter tires. It's definitely worth the investment.

Check out Simply Tire... they have some good winter deals going on.
