Car Wash Equip - Where & What to Buy?
Hi all,
New 2IS owner here, but I've been lurking here for months beforehand.
I know this forum & other sites have dedicated info on how to wash/dry cars. for us Canadians, I'm not sure if some of the products they mentioned can be easily bought at a store locally.
Can somebody please tell me what mitts/gloves/cloths & shampoo/carsoap they have used successfully and where those can be bought, perhaps at a Cdn Tire or Lordco store?
I think my 1st car wash is coming up soon.
Thanks!

depending on the colour... the darker the colour, the more careful you have to be...
i use a microfibre wash mitt for the body of the car... just make sure it never touches the ground, and wash it in between washes... i have 2 for this reason...
i use a standard wash mitt for wheels... and i don't use this wash mitt for anything other than wheels...
car soap: i use the toyota touch/lexus reflections products... they work well...
i clay bar my car once or twice a year... i wash the car, then mix a small quantity, slightly more concentrated bucket of soap, and soap my car down with a microfibre wash mitt, panel at a time, and clay bar the car using soap as a lubricant... then rinse the panel that i just used clay on...
then i wash the car again... then pending on the colour and condition, i wax, or i polish and then wax...
wash mitt: lordco or canadian tire... just buy the packaged microfibre wash mitts, not the loose ones (they get dropped on the ground and pick up dirt)
soap: toyota touch/lexus reflections - available at any toyota/lexus dealer...
clay bar: toyota touch/lexus reflections (wholesale) or mcguires kit
polish: toyota speed glaze, then toyota paint sealant...
i can give you toyota/lexus part numbers if u want...

http://www.autowerkesexclusive.com/. ken's been a detailer for like 15+ years, and opened up an online detailing supplies shop. He's also local, so thus if u have any questions, you can always call him and ask.
one brand of wax or polish may not be as good as another brand, depending on ur car color.

make sure you use something waterbased and not solvent based. solvent base will stick better to the rubber but will slowly eat away at it. waterbased doesnt last as long but it is much safer.
right now i just use 303 protectant but it's way too matte. i'm looking for something with a touch more gloss.

i use Meguiars Endurance
http://www.meguiarscanada.com/index....action=detail&
one of the most popular tire shine on CL according to a voting thread in the detailing section
it gives just enough shine and lasts pretty long
not sure if it is waterbased or solvent based though
