your main auto insurance is thru icbc autoplan, but ur collision or whatever 3rd party thing can go thru other insurers. the one that comes to mind is canadian direct

3 weeks ago when I picked up my 2IS, I went thru ICBC for everything EXCEPT for the new car replacement option. The agent says ICBC's is only for 3 years max, but for the same price the other one I got covered 5 years, and also refunds me $250 back each time I make ICBC $300 deductable claims, and gives me genuine Lexus replacement parts on claims (ICBC might use 3rd party).

Has anyone have good/bad experience with Cdn Direct? I haven't used them personally but just assumed ICBC will be less hassle to make/process claims?

I always used private to cover the Collision damage portion of the policy in the past. Can't do that since I acquired the LS; only ICBC insures high end cars. However, the cost savings with private were quite significant (abt. $200); plus if you bank with Vancity CU, they will finance the insurance over the twelve month period interest-free.

Another nice thing about private insurance is you don't have to deal with Claim Centres. The agent works directly with your choice of body shop.

ur refering to multi-perils, sold thru all-west insurance... good package... i just dislike having to deal with it from the vendor's side... a lot more paperwork to do...

Thanks Narfy ya that's the one. Haven't had to use it & hopefully never will. But in theory that sounded pretty good which is why I went for it.

Jetfire I don't see why you can't, but to me I rather not deal with 3 different vendors if I have to file a claim. I suppose it boils down to how much u can save in premiums. I'm roadstar gold & my wife is roadstar, so I don't think the diff is worth the hassle to us.
