Default CPO Warranty - Canada

Hi!

I am considering a certified 2015 NX, but I am bit confused about the Lexus CPO warranty. Does the balance of the new vehicle warranty transfers over to the CPO car?

The website mentions a 2-year, 40,000 km powertrain warranty, is this then the only warranty that applies to a Lexus certified vehicle?

Thanks!

Based on my experience, my 2010 IS was out of warranty, but when I bought it from the dealer, they provided a 2 year/40,000 KM warranty.

However on my 2012 CT, they gave me the warranty for the battery (start date 2012 to 20xx (I forgot which year exactly, but it was long)) AND a 2 year/40,000 KM warranty. I hope that helps.

Best bet is to just ask the dealer when you go for the car and whatever they tell you it is, make sure you get it in writing. (I sure did)

Yes the balance of factory warranty is rolled into the CPO warranty being offered. The CPO warranty simply makes sure that your car gets 2years/40000km warranty from the date you purchase. New cars have 4yrs/80000km warranty so if your 2015 NX was put on the road in October 2015 it still has over 2years left from the factory. In this case the CPO warranty is almost of no benefit because the CPO does add to the existing factory warranty to give more than 2 years total warranty. If however your 2015 NX was put on the road in October 2014 it would have about a year of factory warranty remaining. In this case the CPO would add one more year warranty for a total of two years of warranty for your CPO car. If memory serves correct I believe CPO is not bumper to bumper it is only a drivetrain warranty so actually for a 2015 car it is virtually of no benefit as the drivetrain is actual 6years from the factory.

Lexus rarely CPO's cars that are more than about five years old because then they are actually extending the factory warranty of the car. The real benefits of CPO are in terms of potentially better finance rates that may be offered through Lexus financing for used cars. Otherwise CPO is just a marketing ploy to try and mark up the used car price. Lexus likes to tell you that it costs them several thousand dollars to bring a car up to CPO standards but the reality is that they don't keep cars that they don't believe are easily CPO'd.

I bought a CPO 2012 lexus in 2014 but the car was a late 2012 car so the CPO warranty did nothing for me. I did however get an incredible finance rate that was being offered at that time so it was worth my while to buy from Lexus.

Thanks for the thorough explanation newgsman... in this case, the CPO warranty would not do anything as you mentioned, I confirmed it with the dealer.

You are exactly correct that this a glorified used car. If I were buying this car from a private, it would cost less and I would not have to pay taxes. Now, I have to say that this one is in very good condition and it has been detailed very well...

Thanks again

Noticed you're in Alberta... Is the car at Lexus of Royal Oak or LOC?
