Default Extended Warranty Insurance

Hi there,

Is there anyone who has experience with extended warranty insurance or who can recommend an insurance policy for a 2017 RX 350?

I recently purchased an extended warranty from a Lexus dealer; however, I found the maximum claim is only $5,000, which is definitely not enough to cover such cases as replacing an engine.

Thanks

In the USA, original powertrain warranties are 6 year, 70,000 miles. No need fo have additional coverage until 2023, 70,000 miles. Sounds like the warranty you purchased isn't a Lexus warranty but a third party plan. Read fine print/exclusions before buying. My personal opinion is that the powertrain of your vehicle is historically dependable and unlikely to be needed. But it's your personal preference to have it.

Yes. It is a third party one, but it was sold through the dealership. For peace of mind, I was willing to buy one. However, the $5,000 maximum limit is a trap because in case the engine needs a repair or replacement, $5,000 isn't enough. Therefore, I am trying to cancel it.

Thanks

which company was it? SAL, global, first canadian? they usually have different levels, each one will come with a brochure that will list exactly what items it will cover and what it wont cover. see if there is any overlap with the oem warranty (should it not be 4yr 80,000km lexus canada?)

you can usually cross reference with they 3rd party website and list what items its covers.

No. It is Premier Dealer Service, a US insurance company doing business in Canada. It is very interesting that Premier Dealer Service doesn't prescribe the terms; it is the dealership and its financial that determine what is covered and how much will be claimed.

Thanks
