The Bends is their greatest album.

AM radio was how we knew school was closed for snow when we were kids lol.
Missanelli was at WIP? Didn't know that. He got canned from 97.5 last year

I started listening to sports talk radio in 1999 on 610. Missanelli and Eskin worked with each other on the afternoon shift. I didn't know at the time they despised each other lol.

As far as AM radio goes, it won't exist in 5-10 years right?

IMHO, no loss. AM radio signals are crap. FM, and particularly FM Stereo, offers far better sound quality, more-pleasant listening, and freedom from lightning-static. True, AM signals travel further at night, but are often even weaker and MORE crappy to try to listen to because AM stations are often required by the FCC to cut their transmitting power at night. And the typically-short, line-of-sight range of FM signals are a non-issue with satellite radio, which spans the globe with no range limits.

I think it's just natural for any human being to despise Howard Eskin..... so it makes sense.

But I'm shocked AM still exists now, so who knows if there's still hangers-on in 5-10 years.

Typo? I think you meant AM radio.

I haven’t listened to that AM crap, either, for a lot longer than ten years. Can’t beat satellite.

other than that, it's all streaming (podcasts, audio books, music) from my phone.

Yes. For news, talk, baseball games, financial news - its all on AM. Bloomberg Radio in NY, if you don't have Sirius, is on 1130 AM and not simulcast to FM. To run iHeart, you have to stream using your cellular data plan, and that can chew up the bandwidth. AM may be "bad", but it's free at least.

No, I mean FM radio. Once I got a car with satellite radio, I never listened to FM radio again. No reason to...in fact its actually longer than 10 years. I had Sirius put in my 2003 ES300 probably in 2004 or 2005, so its been more like 17-18 years.

Now I don't even listen to satellite anymore, its all streaming.

I’ll agree about satellite radio….with my Sirius XM account, I haven’t listened to FM either….it’s been years. I can’t comment on streaming because I haven’t tried it, but, from your comment, you seem to be quite satisfied with it.

In fact, that reminds me of a joke…….”Get Sirius, and don’t kid around”

I've only ever used FM, and I only still use it to check that cars in buying have working speakers and if I'm feeling random music. The other use I have for it is classic music for 80s/90s cars since it fits the vibe IMO
