The 2.4t is actually quite a good engine. I test drove the TX350 the other day and it was very good, quiet and smooth. I can say its a big step above the 2.0t. Its nowhere near as bad as some of the reviewers claims it to be. Might be different on a Toyota though.
The 2024 finally gets what our original target and scope for the 2016 was! But seriously glad to see so much of it come through. Definitely needs it given what the competition in the segment is stepping up with.
Jumping down to the summary of the article (too long to post the entire thing):
And the Winner Is...
We were so impressed when the ZR2 first came out that we doubted Toyota could pull ahead again, but the new Tacoma proves that it absolutely has. The 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road is the clear winner here. It's also on a different plane of existence from the aged truck it replaces. It goes about its business with enthusiasm in terms of powertrain response and handling, and it's quite capable off-road. Its interior is smart and easy to live with, and it's more entertaining to drive on your way to the dirt.
With respect to the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2, this result came as a surprise. Not only have we been consistently amazed by the new ZR2, but its list of advantages seemed long. We fretted about a crushing victory, a bad pairing that would provoke angry letters. But the inconvenience of the Chevy's interior stands in stark contrast to the Tacoma's, and its playful off-road nature and theoretically more powerful motor don't show up on pavement. None of this changes the fact that it's a solid off-road truck, but it's now clear there is room for improvement.
Saw my first new Tacoma while out on a run a few weeks back, so I didn't snap a pic. Saw my second new Tacoma today while I was driving to work. Looked fabulous!
I think the Tacoma hits the Toyota truck heritage part better than the Tundra does. I think the Tacoma feels more like a Toyota truck. Lack of a V8 in the Tundra is a serious omission whereas at least the Tacoma has different gear options and a manual transmission is available. And how does the cheaper Toyota truck offer full time 4WD where the Tundra is stuck with primitive part time 4WD?.
I actually sat in a 1794 edition today. It’s pretty nice but why can’t the entire top part of the dash be soft touch? A Corolla is all
soft touch on the top of the dash.
I think the upcoming 2025 4Runner is a bit of a
let down as the interior is a exact copy of the Tacoma. I do like the new Land Cruiser interior
too bad Tacoma is made in Mexico

should be built with American Labor 🇺🇸
I actually checked out a Tacoma today. There is something cool about this. It’s not trying to be luxurious as the is use and being functional. The grab handle too. And the overall interior side which is snug
