A good tire if you are into aggressive driving, but they are expensive......most people don't drive like that, and don't need that level of cornering and braking.

A good update over the PS4's I've heard, but as usual will be amazing summer tires. The PS4's came stock on my car and are so good. However, I read last week these new updated tires will be OEM exclusive for awhile as they ramp up making them in more sizes.

Hard to say if its worth purchasing over something less performance and cost effective but there's no denying the Michilin has some of the best marketing.

I think they are, totally alters how the car feels/responds/brakes/turns in on cars I have swapped to them. May not be worth it if you never leverage them but they do a lot to make an otherwise "lazy" feeling car much more reactive.

I replaced a "cheap" tire the other day because of a nail. Even though I had road hazard insurance on it, I still had to pay out of pocket for 40% the cost of the tire. Things would get very expensive if I ran Michilins and hit a nail lol.

They come with 2 years free hazard replacement insurance.

A full set of tires using the cheapest brand for my car puts me back at around $400(85$pertire including mount and install). If I get a set of these Pilot Sport S, it will set me back at $1100. If it really does make a difference in the driving experience, I think my next set of tires will be these. An extra $500 over 30k miles isn't that bad now that I think about it.

I have been driving for 25 years and only one time have had a tire that could not be patched, and that was nearly 25 years ago.

Tires have a huge impact on how a car rides and drives, especially a Lexus...driving a great car and running crappy tires makes no sense to me.

I guess it depends on the neighborhood. I get nails(that are unrepairable) all the time which is why I lean more towards the cheapest tires available. And also because I've never had a pair of performance tires, its hard to compare. My thinking is that as long as the tires are safe and cheap, I'm good. But I lean more towards "performance" now.

Hopefully gets a more supportive sidewall akin to the Super Sports.. wasn't fan of the flex-prone PS4S sidewall while driving.

All else equal, a flexible sidewall not only helps keep the tread squarely on the pavement, helping the handling/steering response when cornering, but also ride comfort, by allowing the rubber in the tire to soak up more of the bump without passing it on to the suspension and body structure.

It is definitely a lot more comfortable yes, the PS4S has superior ride comfort and sound to the PSS. But the PSS's stiff sidewall structure make me feel a lot more confident in hard cornering than the PS4S does. Just personal preference.. both are nearly identical in speed anyways.

I'm excited to try these. I've been quite happy with PS4s although I'd love for someone to make a summer performance tire with a higher treadwear rating. I'm asking for a lot and that's not their main priority, I know.

performance wise tires are the best upgrade you can do to a car. Viper is due for tires by the end of the year, Michelin makes the PS4S in OEM sizes not sure if they will do the same for PSS5
