Well, welcome to the club, geko! I was an early adopter, ordering my M4 Competition back in March 2021 and it arrived about 10 weeks later.
We have similar specs, though I got tanzanite blue with the silverstone interior. But I had to get the moonroof. And I got the CCBs. 50,000 miles in 2 years later (yes, several long trips in this car, along with some track time), and the car has been a wonderful companion. Not a single problem.
And we have similar tastes, because I'm currently saving for a manual Porsche Spyder (love the Boxster platform) unless I can find a used GT3 for a reasonable price when the time comes (doubtful). This is my 3rd and likely my last BMW, but they've been pretty damn good to me. I still own 2 right now (I actually have a 2013 M3 convertible which I adore).
Enjoy the G80. It's a great sports sedan platform that you can drive anywhere. BTW, in the Bimmerpost forum, I have the same name. Reach out if you have any questions about mods (yes, I've done a few).
That is one of the best looking M4's I've laid my eyes on. I know you bought it in 2021, but a belated congrats!
Those are 826M in black, one of the optional wheels on Base (6MT) M3s and M4s, and one of the no-cost wheels for the Competition models. They’re also available in bi-color, which is the same but with a machined face. I went with the 825M—the other optional wheel—which are also available in either orbit grey or bi-color.
As a follow-up, I did get to try the cruise control yesterday. I'll reserve final judgement, but initial impressions are not good. I have to turn the system on with the middle button, after which point I would think the set button would set my current speed. But it doesn't. It sets the speed limit. BOOOO! So I wind up pushing the middle button again and I'm good. Until I want to set a different speed, and then I have to push the middle button three times to turn the system off, back on, and set again. I'm sure there's a configuration setting I can change or a different mode of operation I can leverage, which is why I'm still open to it not sucking. But so far, the stalk is 1000x better.
I checked again and from your writing I think yours may have something set up incorrectly. If you are driving, say 65 () and hit the center button, it will activate cruise control at 65. You use the +/- to increase or decrease as you travel. If cruise control is canceled by braking or hitting Cancel, you can press Resume and it will cruise again at 65. If your current speed is different, 70, hitting Resume will go down and cruise at 65. But if you hit the +/-, it will cruise at 70. I don’t use the left and right buttons because they are for speed limits not cruising. I may be wrong on that but that’s how I see it works.

Gorgeous M4! This is also my 3rd BMW and I too am keeping my E90 (though not an M3) in the stable. My 2011 335d (tuned and some minor mods) will be going to my son when he turns 16 this summer. My name is also the same on Bimmerpost.

Thanks! I'll play with it some more the net time I get a chance. Probably not this week though, as I won't have much chance to drive it. My wife has made a rule (which I agree with) of "no stinky boy sweat in the new car", so we're taking the 2011 to his club lacrosse practices.

I totally can relate to that rule. The only way to break that rule is... to replace the old car.

Thanks! It looks really good rolling...

Thanks. Dark blue and gold ended up going well together.

Yes, since I was going with an overall dark, sinister theme with the shadowline features, dark paint and such, I just topped it all off with black wheels, which helps the calipers pop.

Nice! Yes, my E93 is a keeper, will drive that thing until it dies. Such a mood changer.
I'll look you up on Bimmerpost.

This was my first new car, ever, and I was fortunate enough to order the exact one I wanted. I've always bought cars 3 to 4 years old. Thus for the first 18 months or so, I treasured that "new car smell". I was surprised how long it lasted...
