think you meant 'positive' but i have very positive things to say about bmw OVERALL, having loved many models over the years. but yeah, i think the new 7 and 5 direction are pretty awful and obviously the 'beaver front' on the newest 3/4/i4 ain't great either, but at least i like the body shapes there.
the x3/x5 were VERY dull looking to me in early iterations but the last gen i thought was decent looking although i couldn't believe how little 2nd and 3rd row room there is in them.
yes the fronts aren't great to me either, but again, i'm good with the side/rear designs and the front and proportions aren't foul like the 7
bmw knows their market but i get tired of them usually using some smug 'starting to gray' guy in so much of their ads.

yeah I meant to say positive. lol. You're not wrong about 2nd row. Did you know that car in your posted image is non M sport? IMO this LCI X line looks nicer than the M Sports. The only plus I see from M Sports is the painted wheel arch. You can get M Sports suspension on X Line too. The front gets more ridiculously on X5M. But some still buy and say "it grows on me." Of course because you spent a big chunk of money on it.

I don't think you're biased at all. I see this same identical X7 almost every morning at my son's school. Look at those silver pieces. So pathetic. Now that I'm looking at it, it looks like a Roblox car.

Same here. Ex GX (twice too). I do have but very small hope. Having driven this X5, I can't seem to drive a GX like SUV again. Maybe Lexus will surprise us.
Dukec needs to be fired asap including all the board members that approved his horrific designs. Marketing team also needs a revamp after diluting the M brand which is now used to push EVs that nobody wants.
How hard is it to hire a design house like pininfarina or the guys working in Porsche.
To me its a larger issue with the folks running BMW - they are asleep at the wheel.
Thankfully the engineers are still amazing so the cars remain excellent.
I’m surrounded by uber expensive cars around where i live and have a McLaren and Aston dealer 5min from my house. No sane person would pay more attention to a black 7series compared to a supercar - its just not true and everyone but you seems to realize this dude is just BSing.
I see a bunch of supercars daily and bunch of Sclass/7series - this is just silly to even consider that regular person would acknowledge a plain 7series over even the most basic McLaren, say 570S - here is a pic btw:.

He's not the type to make a comment like that if it weren't his experience, he has a ton of really great cars and that 7 Series is his beater daily car. I asked him what he thought about it and he said "You know, I get more compliments and comments on that car than any car I've ever had, people come up to me at gas stations and on the street and ask me what it is and tell me how awesome they think it is"
Thats what you're missing, people aren't saying they like it better, people are COMMENTING more on it...it looks really unusual and people wonder what it is.

I think what you misjudge is that the car is striking in person, it looks unusually large and is makes people wonder what it is. That attention doesn't have to be all positive, but the car gets attention...

My friend just let it go. Nobody at a gas station would pay any attention to a black 7 series unless he was getting gas in some 3rd world country. A McLaren GT is a beautiful car and would definitely get way more compliments from kids to old folks.
Again no matter how successful you are or how many cars you have - its human nature to reinforce your preferences on others. Obviously he is aware that new 7 is a hideous car so the best way to turn the tables is to make a preposterous claim that it received more positive feedback than all his supercars, you would make the other person tend to agree with you even if originally they had opposite thoughts. He seems like someone that knows how to make you side with him even knowing the fact the probability of what he said is zero. Lol

I think they look better in person than in the pictures. Definitely a big presence in person. But I will say, at Performance BMW in St Catharines ON, there are two black gas models sitting there. At least three months now. They haven’t moved.
I have noticed that big sedans are sitting again for sure. My MB dealer has had 3 S580s for at least 3 months they still have, I inquired about one and I was told 10% off right off the bat ($142,000 MSRP). I bet I could get a similar deal as I got on my car in 2020.
We’re seeing the market really soften on the upper end stuff.
They still have ADMs on SUVs but I bet they fold quick.

Why is it so vital to you that your opinion of this car be validated? The only thing that gives him credibility is he has the car, why is it so important to you to discredit his experience? You don't like it, other people do...I relayed what I was told by somebody who owns the car you don't even know...just drop it and move on. We can disagree...

It’s not something that any sane person would accept as reality.
Based on some info you stated, the dude likes « look at me » cars. He probably has low self esteem and wants his purchases to be validated.
The claim he makes is so outlandish that 99.9% of ppl would find laughable as other have in this thread. You are the .1% that believes him. What you should have done is called him out on it.
