perhaps on style and value, a g90 might be considered as well.

i acknowledge the 7 interior materials seem high quality and it's important because that's where we actually spend time, but i just find the overall style so over the top and flashy just to 'impress' that it's gaudy.

This describes exactly how I feel about the 7 series. Doesn’t mean I wouldn’t drive it if I were to get a flagship sedan and the price was right. In the flagship class right now I think I like the S8 because it’s more understated albeit kind of boring.[/size]

No V8, and lacks the outright chassis and suspension sophistication. If comparing to an S500 or 740i I would consider the G90 for sure, but I still want the V8. Then there's the whole dealer situation with Genesis.

one word comes to mind... tacky.
Eh, I think its pretty cool (the lighting bar), and you can always turn it off or set it to white.

The issue with the W223 interior, aside from the tacked on screens that are way better integrated in the new C Class/GLC, is these areas I have circled are hard, cheap feeling plastic which is going to get scuffed and scratched up and you see and feel them every time you get in and out of the car. In my W222 those areas are fully carpeted, and in the new 7 they are fully carpeted. The previous 7 Series those were hard plastic like in the W223 and thats one of the things that turned me off from the interior.

Issue with the S8 is they feel ancient now.

Hopefully they will make some big improvements inside the W223 interior at the refresh which should come in 2024 as a 2025 model. My lease is up in November of 2024, although my intention at the onset was to trade out of it around 3 years like I usually do. (which would be this November)

I just don't think I could ever come around to that front end. I think I'd want an S7.

The S-class is scheduled to get a pretty serious interior upgrade (geting a version of the hyper screen) but I doubt they're going to address where they've placed hard plastic. I wish they would.

The interior design and ID8 are way too “techy” but more for show rather than any additional real world use. Elimination of all physical controls, shifter etc is huge turnoff. The light display on dash is ok i guess. The rear entertainment screen is cool but how many will get this option.

The materials are decent and seats are nice.

The exterior is absolutely hideous unfortunately especially compared to the well designed previous gen.

If you like it then you can get a great deal on it as dealers can’t move them or the equally hideous XM.
Yes to all of this. Also good point on the XM - my dealer is already trying to move these under MSRP. The discounts took less time to arrive than the 7-series.

I'm not in the market for a luxury sedan (Lol) but to think of it, it's hard to find one at this generation. Last time I was at BMW, while waiting, I walked around the showroom. There was an iX right behind the 7. Even when it's next to an iX, this 7 is definitely tall/thick and too much of ground clearance. I put my mug there to see how much it's different from the iX. It looks almost the same. I've seen them around along with new X7. I guess after awhile their strange looking becomes less noticeable.

Its been my perception that BMW has had a hard time moving the 760 for a few generations now. Not sure if the styling direction will help with that.

They are going for SUV look with license plate in the bumper instead of trunk. Looks terrible but still not as bad as the front.

I rather have the Bangle butt 7 series lol

7 series exterior has grown on me substantially. I see a lot of them where I live, I think the car has a good presence in person. The front is a massive stray away from traditional BMW but I don't mind it.

Never sat in one, but the pics of the interior look beautiful.

i admit it has grown on me as well after seeing it on the road earlier this week - it does have presence on the hwy and doesn't look large until you compare the mid-size SUV next to it!

i thought it did look tall (high ride height) but it's certainly more proportional than the BMW BEVs.

That's an "SUV" look? Every SUV I've owned had the plate in the tailgate, not below the bumper.

These cars that start with more unique designs almost always come around over time. I absolutely hated the LS500 when it was launched. Now I see them and I actually really like the look and feel like it has a very elegant and timeless look to it that will age well. The new 7 series is not much different in my opinion. I still much prefer the styling of an S class over the 7, but this new one looks pretty cool to me (especially the cement grey one that was just posted a few responses ago).

really? the proportions to me are just all wrong with the HUGE front from the windshield forward... totally unnecessary other than to say "I'm huge because the person driving me is important." i know some people want/like that, but every time i see one i think "my goodness, they know their market i guess, but it sure ain't me".

Thats exactly what they were going for. The proportions don't look wrong to me anymore. Like it or not, image is a huge driver of why people buy big flagship cars, especially in China.

It draws attention and gets noticed. My friend who has one tells me he gets a TON of comments and compliments on it, more than he has ever had He has a Mclaren, he says it gets more attention than his Mclaren,

I had one behind me at dusk the other day, I could tell from the headlights so it was either a new 7 or a LCI X7...I honestly couldn't tell until it pulled alongside me...it definately is a huge car and looks large for a sedan...but its stopped looking unusually large to me.
