GM makes a ton of money on large trucks/SUVs.

Measured 0-60 times of currently produced cars today has nothing to do with your opinion. It's data, pure and simple. I am not stating my opinion whether 9 seconds to 60 is "fast enough to satisfy me"; when measured for cars on the road today, 9 seconds is on the slower end. It has nothing to do with my feelings, or yours.

But yeah 9 seconds is slow, it's barely enough to survive modern traffic and I would hate to be stuck with something that slow as my only car yet alone paying new car money for such a bad experience

0-60 in 9 seconds is not FAST. Lol
But for GM's diesel it's what I'd expect because it's made for pulling heavy loads.
Probably get the same times pulling a Bobcat on a trailer but a Raptor probably won't. Lol
Ya'll think diesels are just slow?
Think again, it's only when they're tuned and geared for pulling.
I posted high 9's launch above and a 10's. Lol.
PS- those are 1/4 mile times.

That is true to an extent, that's why TDI cars feel way faster than they actually are. The issue manifests in modern traffic on interstates though....

Didn't say it was fast per se. It's fast enough for most people though.

It can survive traffic just fine. My old Camry does a 0-60 in 9 seconds, according to zeroto60times.net and it was perfectly fine for everyday use. The average driver isn't speeding up as fast as they can when they merge onto the interstate..

Assuming it is in good shape, $7500 for a car like that is a real bargain. You must not think much of bargains.
Anyhow, folks, I'm not a moderator, but it seems like we're getting off-topic...GM's large trucks/SUVs, not 0-60 times.

Ok, if you needed a large vehicle and were ok with driving it, what would you pick from the offerings from GM.
Would you go Escalade or something else with less bling.
Just from the large GM offerings.

9 seconds is VERY underwhelming and puts you firmly at the back of the pack in traffic and lends to a subpar experience owning the car.

Depends on what I am doing, if I am doing heavy towing a Duramax 6.6 of some variety. The Escalade is about the same price as a GMC used so if used I would always go for top trim.

No that's a rip off really, last car I had that was that type of slow was my Jag and it cost me $700 plus a $450 for an engine and parts. $7500 would be the maximum I can see anyone spending on something that slow since that price gets you a mid 2010s maxima/ES/3.6 Malibu, etc etc...so many good options in the $5-10k range that don't punish you with that lack of performance.

Personally, I think the Yukon is probably the best value of the three, and I like its looks, although the top-trim Denali version costs almost as much as an Escalade.....for a reason.
All of them, though, are far too large for my current driving needs...which are met almost perfectly by the Encore GX.

And how does it "put you firmly at the back of the pack in traffic"? You speed up in the acceleration lane then merge onto the interstate to drive with everyone else.. There is no issue in maintaining a speed of 65-70 in a car that does a 9 second 0-60.

Do you enjoy being bullied in traffic because you are slow? My Jeep is about 9 sec 0-60 and damn does it suck to drive anywhere beyond backroads and smaller highways, there is no way in hell I would pay new car money for that kind of experience on an interstate as my only car lol!
