Okay, here's my coverage with all in the info and tons of photos -- https://www.clublexus.com/articles/2...uiser-preview/
Added photos to the first post.
TLDR: It's a GX 550 with the 2.4L iFORCE MAX powertrain from the Tacoma TRD Pro. Pricing starts in the mid-$50s. 3.5 grades... Land Cruiser 1958 (Base, round headlights), Land Cruiser and Land Cruiser Premium (rectangle headlights ala FJ62), Land Cruiser First Edition (5K units, every option, round headlights).

Another epic fail by Toyota. As expected.....just a rebrand of an existing product, once again ruining a great nameplate like the Supra before it. EDIT: I just can't get over this inane move, they moved their former flagship SUV nameplate down-market? Just why? At least just call it the FJ again or anything other than LC since that was supposed to imply it's the top SUV minus the LX with that just being the nice version.

I mean, it's the next generation Land Cruiser Prado, so it's expected to have shared the bodyshell with the GX like the past 2 generations...
Would've been nice to have an FJ nameplate return instead as a Wrangler/Bronco competitor.. this LC seems like it'll just be internal competition for the 4Runner.

I like it
250 series Fabric seats. Manual adjustment. Full time 4WD. I really like the rounded headlight look. Some markets have a gas only turbo option. And some have the 2.7l I4 engine I can overlook that it’s hybrid only in the US. Toyota has a big hit.

Very decent offering and obvious Toyota is trying to take a part of the Bronco's thunder. Should go over well and sell above sticker for some time. No value here with real life transactions, despite the hype.
My quibbles would be: Should have just offered one headlight design for all models. Going from square to round is silly. Just pick a style and make it work for all.
Nice to see the manual shifting automatic lever. Glad Toyota hasn't abandoned us manual shifters.
Bottom line, like I have said in many previous threads, the biggest problem will be stepping on the 4Runner's toes. Not sure what Toyota has up their sleeve, but I still think the family is overbreeding.

Curious on where the next gen 4 Runner will positioned, now that this new land cruiser is stepping on its toes at the upper spec price point

Toyota is just making one mistake after another. This’s thing is a Land Cruiser in name only. It’s as if the original Land Cruiser were to became a broke, cheap, homeless drug addict by comparison.

I love the vehicle, the powertrain is a let down...will it stop people from buying it? I doubt it. Remember no V6 power in the new Tacoma and I'm sure not in the new 4Runner either.
Shouldn't it be though? Why would the Lexus version of this being better in every way be a surprise?
