the previous model that didn't sell in the u.s. mechanically close to the lx and so expensive to make.

a new lc based on the lx600 in the u.s. would be $100k and wouldn't sell either.

I think this could easily be solved just in the name change from Land Cruiser to FJ
you're obviously attached to car names. i couldn't care less.

My wife is getting dangerous when it comes to cars. She is on her own going to the ToyBarn and looking at high ends sometimes and I'm fearing that she is going to ask me for a DB9 soon.....she sent a picture of the instrument cluster of an Aston last week.

it matters more than you may realize. Ford didn’t call their new Mach E a “mustang” for nothing. And understandably, previous Mustang owners didn’t like that move at all.

also it doesn’t take $100,000 to fix the hideous front end of the new LC and its aesthetic failure of an interior that even the new GX doesn’t solve.
The ugly front end and interior is more befitting of an FJ not an LC.

Same here, I had to literally stop my spouse from walking in the Lexus dealer to buy an LC500 when we pulled in there for something else recently.

We could do it, but now isn't the best time for another car.

Just watched a video on the Land Cruiser and heard this guy reference the 1958 edition which has different head light design and different overall front design as well. He made a separate video that was posted a few days ago, here it is:

200 wasn't a failure in USA either, they sold every one they sent here. Niche vehicles, same with LX. They carve out roughly what they think will sell, stuff them full of luxury and roughly send that many here.

They didn't plan on selling 60-80,000 a year like GMC does with a Yukon. LC/LX was outclassed in every single way by many competitors except off road capability and reliability and the legendary engineering, but they knew the people would buy the LCs and LXs here. 200 is PERFECT for a couple with no kids (like us). Would probably still have one even with kids.

I wonder what the inside dimensions of this are?

Based on this quote from Car and Driver, I expect it to be slightly bigger than a 4Runner but likely smaller (more narrow) than existing Cruiser/LX:
Despite the narrower body, the accommodations feel more generous than the current 4Runner. Interior dimensions are not yet available, but the vehicle feels right-sized. That's because this smaller Land Cruiser is still not as small as the current Toyota 4Runner, which still has a place to live in the hierarchy in its usual place below this new Land Cruiser. Toyota is mum about any new 4Runner specifics, except to say it's not going anywhere. We think the new 4Runner, when it arrives, will slot in at a lower price point by using the Tacoma's part-time four-wheel-drive system and its base and midlevel engine offerings.

And the Mach E sells WAY more units than the Mustang. So...why do they care?

You think it looks hideous, I think it looks really cool. You're not buying one, we get it.

Thats not the case. LCs languished on lots here and sold at big discounts.

for the same reason you would if the “all new” Mercedes s class was styled and priced like the A class despite the increase in sales. Furthermore the Mach E took nothing away from the existing mustang. It didn’t make it cheaper looking, slower or decontented in any way while at the same time helping the Mach e in recognition. No car suffered a downgrade in substance or style . The same isn’t true with the new LC.

Definitely not. And I suspect many previous generation owners will feel the same way for the reasons I have stressed on here.

Again that comparison makes no sense. The Land Cruiser is sold as a relatively spartan vehicle all over the world, and has been here as well. "Land Cruiser" is actually 3 lines of vehicles...this is just a different line than we had here previously since the "Wagon" line did not sell well here. Plus again, you can still buy that vehicle as the Lexus LX600.

In any event, this interior still looks pretty luxurious in higher trim:

Since the LC sold so poorly here there aren't many of those to feel that way. This LC will appeal to way more buyers than the old 200 LC ever did. It will sell at least 4-5 times as well as the 200 LC did.
