The luxury of the LS430 or the simplicity of the IS200?
Looking for a first car and narrowed it down to these two. Which one should I buy? Maintenance isn't an issue, I can afford it.

I had an LS430 and wife has an IS350 FS now. The LS is really good and refined but pretty boring inside and out as well as to drive. Also the cabin feels so big it’s kind of weird to drive it by yourself, like being alone in a huge fish tank.
Ive had a few flagship luxury sedans and the LS430 was probably my favorite. Such a smooth and quiet ride.

i'm of course partial to the LS!
they're very different cars though in terms of feel and characteristics... if you want the most serene, luxurious experience possible the LS is as good as it gets (or at least was at the time of the LS 430), and the IS is a much firmer riding sharper handling little thing if that's what you prefer
it's like S-class vs C-class, although i think toyota was even more going after the 3 series with the IS
but i will say if an IS 200 (not 300) is all that's available i think you'll be wanting for acceleration... the LS 430 with that lovely 3UZ V8 still holds up speed-wise even amongst todays cars

I got a LS430 earlier this year. The LS is great at cruising on highway and local roads and feels very well made, but it definitely does not want to be hustled. I feel so slow getting to places because it builds up speed slowly from a stop and leans heavily during a turn. If you've owned a fast turbo car before, the driving dynamic is going to be something that will time take time to get used to.
