Most H/K cars just steal the coolest design elements from high end brands or outright copy the overall look. Been that way for a long time

I was thinking that today. But I couldn’t figure out it out. What examples do you have?

not even remotely similar. land rover has bizarre 3rd side window 'thing', has that raised roof section has round fender flares vs santa fe's squared off ones. obviously the LR is rwd based while the santa fe is fwd based so the proportions are different. different headlights, tail lights, wheels. but apart from that they're identical, lol.

maybe because they hired away audi and bmw designers, to name a couple of places.

Sorry, thats ridiculous lol. The Santa Fe is clearly modeled to look like a Land Rover. You're fanboying my friend. There are many whole articles about this...

It's squared off. So what? It's like saying that they modeled after a 1990s era Jeep Cherokee.

that's a defender not a discovery. next you'll be saying the defender and (2008) discovery look alike.

i agree the defender and santa fe are closer in looks than the discovery which i now realize jill's pic is an ancient one (maybe about 2008). current discovery looks more like a range rover. also, as that australian article points out, the santa fe is half the price with a lot less off road cred, so they're not exactly competitors.

If anything, it gives me a Ford Flex vibe, just with more sharp angles/details.

Someone in my neighborhood just got one. It seems smaller and lower to the ground than expected. More like a tall wagon.
