Think about it, look at the photos below. These are a map. Could you imagine you’re taking your lifelong dream of travelling across America in your fancy sports car or your big luxury sedan. Then you have a flat and your 235-35-21 wheels pops. What do you think the chances are of a tire shop in this vicinity, that would have it in stock Could you imagine if they told you they have to order it But your tire goes busted on a late Saturday night. And the only tire shop in town doesn’t open till Tuesday because they take Sunday and Monday off You wouldn’t have this issue in your LX 570 and neither would I in either of my Toyota 4Runners

Lol I never said you take the spare and leave it on until just whenever. I can't help my car has staggered tires, I actually like it. It handles way too well for a 4200lb car, it's kind of crazy.

If I got a flat I'd replace the tire immediately.

Performance oriented RWD vehicles often have wider rear tires for traction. A donut can still work just fine. I'm honestly starting to lean against getting even a donut sized spare because I like having the trunk space. I may just get a repair kit and a AAA membership. I've been very lucky with tires over the last 20 years.

On my truck, however, I won't accept anything less than a full size spare tire. Especially if I have a flat tire off-road when I'm in 4WD.

My 5 series has non-staggered tires because it's not an M-Sport. I actually chose this because I wanted to be able to rotate my tires to get more life out of them.

Anybody have any clue the last time a manufacturer included a full-size spare tire in anything smaller than a BOF SUV or pickup?

It has to be 30 years at least.

Toyota Corolla Hatchback had one till 2022. But just not in North America. LS460 had it. Lexus ES 350 had it as an option until current generation

Nowhere near that long ago, my LS460s had full size spares on matching wheels.

LS430/LS460 RX300/RX330 are all cars I had that had full size spares. I'm fairly sure the ES has it too, I know the IS does since I've worked on the 2/3rd gen and currently own a 1st gen. The LSs and the 1st gen IS actually even have matching rims so you couldn't tell it was a spare to begin with.....there are many others as well. My A8s are square 285s so I'm actually not sure if I could fit a spare even with the euro market full size spare panels for the trunk since I think that only fits a 19 inch rim tire size option.

even if you bent a rim. At least you have a full-size rim to keep your journey going,
True, but that has always been the case, and has nothing to do with staggered wheels. The old "<50mph for <50 miles" micro-spares would never get you through a long road trip either. I would happily drive 4,000 miles on a pair of 20s, one 19 (or vice versa) and one 18" spare, with tires all the same size. But it would never happen anyway, because there's zero chance my wife would go on a drive across the country even if we had six full-size wheels with brand-new tires.

Our last vehicle with a spare was our 2007 RX350. We've only bought 3 cars since then, but none of them have had even the option of a spare, nor have any of the vehicles we cross-shopped each time but ultimately didn't buy. Unless you bought it separately and put it in the main part of the trunk, cargo area or (in one case) the back seat. No thanks.

I agree with you on the staggered tires, I like the look and handling aspect of having wider rear tires. I know a lot of people get a square set up when going with aftermarket wheels so they can rotate the tires but I really haven’t had much of an issue having uneven tire wear on my cars. In my Tesla I replaced my front tires within a couple thousand miles of my rear tires.

I absolutely go through front tires faster not being able to rotate them.

Confession time, I never rotate my tires.

My last tire rotation was 30 years ago. Lol

I've never been one to do burnouts but whenever I need new tires I have a little fun....

Can't really do that anymore though unless it's with donuts involved
